Re: "500 - Internal Server Error" Problems
The errors have not "gone away." I can reproduce them at will. And, I still suspect it's a PHP scripting problem; as I said before, going from 4 to 5 has screwed up half the world. Everybody's scripts need rework to be compliant.

Re: Couple questions
...like splicing LISP code into a C program... Gag! Ack! Thank a great and wonderful God for compile-time error traps. And blame Satan himself for Lisp. I wonder if it is possible that the Loroi would treat the actual calligraphy of the written word as a means of expressing subtlety and nuance just...

Re: Chapter 2 cover
...actually she does not have that authority to grant plenipotentiary status to alex, only his own government could do that... You are quite correct. I knew there was something phunky about the whole thing even when I was reading it the first time through: the idea that a grunt spacer first could b...

Re: Chapter 2 cover
You are suggesting that Tempo lacked the authority to grant plenipotentiary status to Alex? This would be diplomatic seppuku, to exceed one's authority in front of other diplomats. Don't buy it, dudester.

Re: Chapter 2 cover
Watch out for that puke-colored puke.
Are we presuming that Alex is still suspect, even though he has been granted plenipotentiary status by the Loroi?

You guys are wrong. Wrong! WRONG!!
For all of you who are arguing against my science, I suggest you go to Google. Look for [ansible] or ["superluminal events"] or something similar. There is already scientific fact to back up what I'm talking about. Some of the exotic particle detection stuff I mentioned I learned while doing a gig o...

Re: Page 90
Let's not be silly about this, Fred. I used the example of visible light because that's something we are doing right this moment with current science and technology. Extending the technology forward is the purpose of "speculative fiction," and should encompass what we already know we can do and proj...

Re: Page 90
...any reserves that are behind the front lines are effectively "hidden" from the enemy. I must beg to differ with Arioch on technical grounds. The first is that nothing is hidden from sight any more. Remember back in the Cold War, when US satellite recon guys convinced Ivan that his "hidden" under...

Hmm. Sorry to be so crude, but I think my take would be a lot simpler:
We're gonna get some, guys. You watch from above while we do it.

Re: Page 88
By the way, there's no question here that the Umiak could wipe the floor with the 51st even using guns only, right? Should they be missile-dry they still have a considerable firepower advantage?
If so, we can stop talking about the Umiak not wanting to engage for tactical reasons.

Re: Page 87
ACME anvils...yes, that's very phunny. So, I guess this means you have no sense of what weapons could be derived from as-yet-unknown technologies? Or that we are capable of deriving superior science once given a slight leg up? Or that we could simply take what weapons and other technologies are in c...

Re: Page 87
<ahem> The real point I was trying to make (before the flame degeneration) is that mankind in general is pretty quick on its feet, technologically. The Loroi and Umiak technology is pretty impressive, but their science is not. I still think that Terrans, given some pretty basic technologies enjoyed ...

Re: Page 87
To stretch the analogy given earlier a little bit more (perhaps close to the breaking point), if the Historians are the Vorlons then perhaps those who struck the Bellarmine are Shadows? I really, really hope that Arioch hasn't "borrowed" a plotline from previous art. That would be a shame. As for Te...

Re: Page 86
They didn't do much on my playthrough...They never capped any points. I've played it on all difficulty levels and they behave differently every time I play the mission. It doesn't seem to matter what level I play at, the Eldar either cower in the corner or go rushing into the Chaos base and get the...

Re: Page 86
Heck, you could have a Space Marine forced through circumstances to work with a Farseer... You mean, like in the last mission of the first DoW campaign game? Actually, the SM weren't being forced to work with the Eldar; the Biel-Tan were just the enemy of the Blood Ravens' enemy, so they ended up w...

Alright, so this thread has officially run off the rails and into the ditch, right? We're not even pretending any more, is that it?
Hmm.
I was kinda hoping to talk about Outsider some.

Re: Page 86
And the best part is that that wouldn't be half as ridiculous as half of the fluff already is. A friend of mine used to do a lot of war gaming using various miniature systems. He was well into the assembling, painting, customizing, all that jazz. I watched a couple of "engagements" of the miniature...

Re: Page 86
I fear that the Assassin can't fire on the Farseer because he is in lust with her far out-of-scale hooters. [ahem] There's been some great speculation as to why the Umiak haven't just come in and clobbered the Loroi yet, but it's all exactly that -- speculation. The most likely explanation is that t...
