Re: Fan Theories on How the Umiak can hide from the farseers

I've been wondering about that topic for awhile. We can modify memories with the crappy tech we currently have. I can only imagine how much easier it would be to modify minds at these god-like tech levels. It might be that McDonald's is merely an Umiak trap designed to tempt the Loroi into going to ...

Re: Confederations

This one is good. It goes into detail on the inherent strengths and weaknesses of the Confederate States of America: social, cultural, economic, demographic, etc. The Confederation style of government discussed at length.

Re: Confederations

Yale has another very good (if slightly dry) playlist covering the American Civil War, I greatly enjoyed it.

Crash course does a decent job of breaking down the history of the Civil War in their US History playlist, link below (episodes 18-22).

Re: [Fan Fiction] The pale horse (Updated: 04/25/2016)

If I remember correctly, this conversation is a sidetrack of the actual discussion, which is about a fan-fiction of an excellent webcomic, which updates rather sporadically... Then stop talking to me. At this point I'm only responding to questions and comments directed at me. Absalom I am not inter...

Absalom I've already told you that I have no interest in communicating with you anymore, as you have proven that you have no interest in an honest and adult conversation. It's just not going to happen, I mean this as respectfully as I possibly can. When you propose a position and then refuse to prov...

A wonderful case in point: The Democratic People's Republic of Korea! "German Democratic Republic", "People's Democratic Republic", ... "Democratic" in the name usually forespells less democrcy.... Sorry, topic closed..... Edit: Tangentially, I'd also like to point out that you can't really guarant...

Re: [Fan Fiction] The pale horse (Updated: 04/25/2016)

Nah, I'm good Siber. A wonderful case in point: The Democratic People's Republic of Korea! An excellent example of another fascinating topic concerning pseudo-democracies, a type of government which has seen a rise in numbers over the past few decades. While a fascinating topic in and of itself, it ...

As it turns out, I don't have one, and can't be bothered with getting one.
Then I consider you to have no real interest in having an intellectually honest conversation on this topic and I ask that you stop communicating with me.

Re: [Fan Fiction] The pale horse (Updated: 04/25/2016)

Confederations make perfect sense when you're almost completely satisfied with no governing body: the UN could be argued to be a form, and yet it seems to be sort-of useful. They're basically appropriate for when things work fine, but another layer would make it easier to throw poo at the other guy...

NuclearIceCream please stop. I'm a political scientist with political scientist, U.S. history and world history friends. We all  at Confederations, it's unanimous. Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

I was playing Star Trek Online and I saw someone launching fireworks from their ship! Do the Loroi, Umiak, Humans or anyone else do this sort of thing? I think a TL 9+ fireworks display in space using military vessels and crews would be something awesome to see! http://o.aolcdn.com/hss/storage/midas...

Awww, so less ruthless than what I was expecting.
The occupiers merely underestimated the effectiveness of the Loroi psionic warfare castes.
Wow, people seem to do that a lot.

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thre

I suspect that the Neridi were easier to 'read' and could perhaps 'receive' basic instructions thus allowing them to act as lookouts and agents of opportunity.
I love your naive and idealistic nature.
