Re: Page 213: The Bug Hunt is on!

Completely unrelated to all this, I think of osmething from the old Marvel 2099 series where they had widespread plasma weaponry and someone was using a shotgun. 'Why do you cock it?' 'Because it's awesome'.

Re: 171: Beef Stroganoff is NOT GOOD

I think the Loroi could be moved by witnessing a human military funeral (if those are still a thing).
I think that my favorite 'space funerals' are the style we've seen in Star Trek - fired off to arc around to head towards the sun. To alwasy be a part of space.

Re: How can the Loroi win?

The Umiak can -probably- get most resources they need from asteroids/stars for ores and energy. I'm guessing in zero gravity that making industrial infrastructure is viable for mass production. They seem to be created through mass cloning so they do not have issues replacing losses. The Umiak (so fa...

Re: Page 140 Discussion - "WRRAMMM!!!"

while we don't see a great deal from the perspective of the station, the shuttle is going past it at high speed, possibly with the intent of having had the station be used as cover and the PD take care of the torpedos. But no real coordination made with the pilot of the shuttle and the station crew ...

Re: Page 140 Discussion - "WRRAMMM!!!"

And I wonder if leading the missiles into the defense station was the best option. It's still a defense station protecting a region of the sector. was it a great tactical tradeoff to destroy the station/inflict heavy damage on it to use it as cover from the torpedos? That just seems like not a great...

Hopefully tactics do not involve using friendly defense stations as shields. Particularly if said stations do not survive said tactics.

Re: Page 137: Adieu SG-51

Eek. This is gonna get messy. This is what happens when the enemy has a massive numbers advantage and is attacking along a wide front. Someone in an earlier post said it was like the Soviets going on the full offensive against the Germans in the east during WW2 in the final phases of the war - that ...

Re: Page 136: When the douchebags crash the party

The Umiak have shown a great willingness to sacrifice ships en masse - a testament not only to thier production capabilities but also thier morale at thier willingness to engage in mass attrition warfare wtihout blinking. The 'deep strike' doesn't have to be tactically successful - all it really has...

Re: Page 132: Something Interesting

At least they've gotten some warning across! Presuming they launched thier own courier, andevacuated non-combat staff, we know they've at least got some messages through the jump point - of course, depending on how long transit takes and how long it takes to get a message off, reinforcements might b...

Re: Page 131: The one in which we learn how Loroi swear

The Umiak don't have to blockade 100% of system traffic. They just need to get there quickly enough before large numbers of ships can fall back. I presume they aren't expecting to cmopletely close off the jump point before anyone can jump - but other than the occasional leaker/courier, they can at l...

Re: Page 130: Gotta Go Fast

Also I'd guess drawing out the border strike groups is to isolate potential enemy reserves. Draw out, attrite any immediate responding Loroi groups, gather intel - are there more fleets in the area than usual? Use it as a cover for quick last minute pinpointing of enemy task forces. I'd guess that a...

Re: Page 130: Gotta Go Fast

I.. Think the situation is that the Umiak have overwhelming force present in most vectors, so engaging them beyond trying to slow them is pointless - the Loroi raider fleets don't have the numbers to inflict significant damage or force concentration to slow them. So hopefully by withdrawing they can...
