Re: When The Great Lift Fell

I know what the story's about... I've read the first book. :D A young adult adventure is exactly what I'd expect from the hipsters at Apple... but I'm glad to hear the Empire plot is better. I really like Lee Pace. I wouldn't subscribe to Apple TV if my life depended on it, so my interest in the sh...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

1xPxnuLk-JA Unrealistic though this battle may be, it does illustrate what the Loroi are up against. Only worse, since unlike the Spartans here, the Umiak would throw their spears into the gun toting soldiers. Ranged attack, even with unlimited ammo can be overwhelmed... and the Loroi don't have th...

Re: Substitute Alex For Other Well Known Scifi Human Characters... Do They Do Better Or Worse?

Yet I think James T Kirk (Shatner NOT PINE) is arguably less OP since he has more wits and charm than raw uber brains like Carter who figured out how to. Blow up a star That is nothing compared with Kirk routinely outsmarting God like beings or A.I,'s like V'ger who before coming to Earth, assimila...

I don't think the Loroi would agree with the klingon saying. 'Today is a good day to die.'
"Dalid is Dalid" doesn't seem that far off from "Today is a good day to die.", but I was referring mostly to Loroi and Klingon social hierarchy.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

The Loroi society seems pretty similar to that of the Kingons regarding their social hierarchy. The warrior class gets all the honors and praise, but without the civilians, their society would collapse pretty quickly

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thread

Space piracy doesn't work very well unless it has a state sponsor, in which case it's not really piracy, but commerce raiding. And commerce raiding doesn't work very well in a war situation, since you don't normally have access to shipping that's behind enemy lines. In a peacetime situation, it doe...

Maybe they plan to pull a Millennium Falcon hiding thing and vent the atmosphere to make it look like the shuttle is really abandoned.

Re: The "Real Aerospace" Thread

Did it catch fire near the base/landing gear area? Yes, it looked like there was some kind of insulation/blanket that tore loose and caught fire, and it sounded like one or two of the small compressed air tanks in the skirt ruptured, but the fire was put out and the ship survived. On another subjec...

Re: Page 199: MAD about stuff

The A-Team in Space 8-) So who is who? Alex might be Hannibal and Red be the face, but who is gonna be Murdoch and B.A.? I'm pretty sure Red would be BA. No one else seems to be as up fo' pitying the foo' Murdoch would be one of the pilots, and Spiral seems appropriately wacky Tempo seems to ...

Re: Page 199: MAD about stuff

My wild guess: Together with the red harpie's telekinetics, Alex' superior tactics, and the boldness of a young team not afraid to die and desperate, this small group will conquer the Umiak heavy, and use it to flee towards the Loroi space. The PocketHistorian(TM) will do his part and interface the...

Re: Page 197: Playing games

Back on page 156 the historian advised Alex not to reveal its presence, but they seem to know about it here. Do the Loroi think the construct is not present and the the projector is suspect by association alone? Alex clearly not listening to the historian anyway, which is understandable but may hav...

My dreams are weird, and often contain places I've never been to and are completely "invented".

I just need to find a way to make that productive. :p
Maybe do a webcomic based on your dreams. Could prove to be a success. :)

Re: Page 187: CRUNCH

The events for Alex are still new and raw. I suspect that while they may still be painful memories for Fireblade, she has come to terms with them. If the events are traumatic enough, some people never come to terms with them regardless of how much time went by. In context of what we saw so far, doe...

Re: Page 187: CRUNCH

So far Fireblades dream remains mundane. It's horrible, but grounded in reality. Alex dreams are more fantastical. Seeing a corpse walking around and making accusations could be something new for her. I don't think what we saw of Fireblade in Teidar looking at the city can be considered a dream, th...

Re: Page 187: CRUNCH

I think there is no doubt that this is one of Fireblade's memories or dreams/nightmares, Now the question is, if Fireblade will also get into one of Alex's dreams/nightmares like when the Belarmine was destroyed. It would be interesting to see how she would react to that.
