Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] The Past Awakens
Thanks! And don't worry about the story getting abandoned; I *finished* writing it 2 weeks ago, it's complete already. I'm just uploading it one chapter at a time. I've got plans for a sequel if there's interest in it, but this story itself is a ~130,000-word (19 chapter) storyline that I'm confiden...

Chapter Six: Liftoff
The loroi warband that had so eagerly stormed downwards into the “Soia Weapons Cache” earlier was rather more 'subdued' on their way back up. Sanzai was clipped, muted, even without the suppressive effects of the walls around them. For her part, Talon felt like that one time she’d had to gingerly br...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] The Past Awakens
I wanted to make the crossover something more than the "Master Chief appears in [X] setting, what do?" plots that *so many* crossover fanfictions end up being. So by blending aspects of Outsider's backstory and Halo's backstory, I've made something that I hope ends up feeling like a cohesive setting...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] The Past Awakens
So, there's the deep-dive into the backstory, the seam where I welded the Outsider setting to Halo's setting.
And also a bit of foreshadowing...

Chapter Five: Reunion
<Door’s sealed, Lashret! They’ll need some serious explosives to get through it, now!> sent the gallen as she stepped away from the control panel. Fireblade eyed the ancient Soia mechanism suspiciously. She had had to push the very limits of her powers to force a way through that first Soia door nea...

Chapter Four: Weapons Cache
<That is it?> Stillstorm asked. <Affirmative, Lashret.> replied Tempo, crowded next to her in the narrow cockpit and looking out of the same window. <It is the structure that the Shell laborer had known, in this same swamp.> <The Enemy seems to have… withdrawn from the area. Have they completed thei...

Voice pitch
Hiya!
Quick question: since loroi males are much smaller than females, does that mean that loroi males would have a higher voice pitch (shorter vocal cords)?

Re: Chapter Three: Crashed
Author's Note: Okay, this forum's system is *really* starting to annoy me. It ate the last version of this chapter, with all the last-minute minor edits. So now I've re-done all the ones that I can remember, and hopefully it won't fail to upload this time. Teidar Pallan Fireblade was the first to a...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] The Past Awakens
Yup. I figured that they would do so, for pretty much the exact same (but mirrored) reasons that most human cultures refer to ships as feminine.
Anyways, Chapter 3 is going up in a few minutes; it's where the story proper really begins.

Chapter Two: Shot Down
Author's note in spoiler-box to make things neater: I'm not quite happy with the time-skip here, jumping over some action and describing it in past-tense. But Halo:CE doesn't give the player much of a view of the outside combat, and you mostly see it via Cortana's narration(/boasting) once you arriv...

[Crossover Fanfiction] The Past Awakens
Author's Note: Hi everyone! I've written this story over the last ~4 months, and I'm going to be posting it over the next few weeks. There's 19 chapters, and I'm aiming to post one every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Now, to get a few things out of the way: 1) It's a crossover, and you'll probably ...

Re: Loroi Trade translation request general
Hiya!
Translation request: What would the Trade word be for:
1) "Security." As in the job description/category, if different from the concept as a whole.
2) "Conquest"
Thanks!

I must say, I *do* like this version better.
Also, Ashrain needs a hug. Also maybe an AA meeting.

Re: A Chorus of Stars
Also, re-reading the "Project First Son is Revealed" bit, as far as I can tell the number of people who actually *know* about it and what Greywind can now do is still less than ~1,000 people. Keeping them from telling the secret would be *difficult,* but not impossible given that almost all of them ...

Re: A Chorus of Stars
Ooh, the title makes sense now! And we've got Good news and Bad news:
Good News: The human-included sanzai network seems to be coming online.
Bad News: It's basically an unmoderated chatroom which moves at the speed of thought, with exactly the results anyone would expect.

Teidar/Mizol who fail their Diral Trails
It's been explained that a very large percentage (the majority, IIRC) of loroi civilians are ones who went through warrior training but failed their diral trials. That makes sense for most of the warrior castes, but what happens to prospective Teidar/Mizol who wash out? Are there loroi civilians out...

Moon-ships / Dreadstars
A question that I'm not sure fits in this Loroi Q&A thread (although many loroi would disagree...) When the Soia's Dreadstars/tonsillat/moon-ships are described as "moon-sized," is there a more accurate estimate for their scale? Since at least for the Sol system, we've got moons ranging in diameter ...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Would Loroi ladies freak out if they saw a ridiculously muscled over masculine guy on par with Gigachad man? Honestly, given that most *humans* tend to stop and stare at someone that unusual, probably about the same. Essentially, they'd react the same way human women would to meeting, say, Andre th...

Re^2: Revolution Ideas
Ah, that's the angle you were going for. On that topic, it definitely still passes the plausibility test. For one, IIRC Arioch hasn't quite stated the 'range' at which a mizol can pick through someone's mind, but presumably you can't just toss one into every random street-corner checkpoint and scan ...
