Re: What is better not offer to Loroi
... You're aware, I hope, that Loroi spacecraft are propelled by an analogue of antimatter. Terran Imperium spacecraft are propelled by hydrogen peroxide . They use chemical propulsion . That means good acceleration, but pathetic endurance. WH40K FTL technology relies on either warpspace (liberate ...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Wow... Nice work Arioch! So we are going from a "as happy as you can get" Beryl, to a mildly annoyed one and reach a angry one in only one page? beril is so bipolar :D Tsunderes man. Tsunderes. Or might she be a Yandere? in that case, Alex better watch out! http://assets.shitbrix.com/hashed_silo_co...

Re: The Loroi are Evil!
Destroying a nation/empire/political and military entity is not the same as total genocide.
to destroy a nation you have to push it to collapse, hit weak points.
To kill every single member of a space-fearing species...that would require a LOT more effort

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
hi hi Now, I'm a fan of Babylon 5. Mimicking previous design work is honestly rather common in science fiction, so I'm not even saying they're villains because of it. My guess is they were going for homage, but in that case, I don't think they were designing things with practicality in mind. Like s...

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thre
If given the opportunity, what is the likelihood they would or could use a biological weapon, such as a engineered virus, on a target planet? I thinking is it will probably not be killed by this disease themselves, unless it crosses over to them, and they can have it dispersed swiftly (such as by t...

Re: What is better not offer to Loroi
The Loroi are augmented to breed faster, work for longer periods of time, and be cheaper to maintain (lower food/water/air/medical requirements). Those are labor drone augmentations. Combat drone augmentation would be small-arms proof skin, sub dermal armor, reinforced skeletal structure, reinforce...

Re: The Loroi are Evil!
True, but treating even friends like dirt is the hallmark of evil. That is why I'm concerned with the Umiak.
I'm curious, if humans were to negotiate with Umiak, what kind of a deal could they pull off?
Could they avoid the harsh quotas?
Arioch?

Re: Is Outsider still an active project, or is it over?
The Umiak enslave all they meet so they can strip-mine their worlds for resources and force them to serve their expansionist policies only to pollute and devour everything in their path. It is likely the Umiak's policies which have forced the Loroi to adopt the 'No Neutral Civilizations' as if they...

Re: Is Outsider still an active project, or is it over?
You have a pretty negative view of the Umiak. They seemed perfectly happy with laving other races alone before the Loroi went "Total war, no neutrality!"
Also, Christmas and no Christmas poster/pin-up?

If they found THAT, then the very next thing the Loroi would do is push the Bellarmine into the Sun, together with Jardin and everything ever touched by a human.Karst45 wrote:maybe this?wasp609 wrote:I wonder what the most confusing item they found from Bellarmine the is to the loroi.

Ground combat?
There we are more evenly matched.
The fancy beam weapons have no advantage in atmosphere and at short ranges. ESPECIALLY at short ranges.
Good-old slug throwers may be primitive, but they are effective, reliable and cheap.

Actually it's the GTVA Gigant(d)ick "shooting" the Sathanas in the rear from it's "Diffusion Induction Converter Kannon" .
What? .. it was a easter egg hidden in my campaign.

Re: The "Real Aerospace" Thread
Oddly, for a series so based in the Space Is An Ocean trope, spacecraft from the Honor Harrington series would work pretty well in space. At least, until they overheated from lack of radiators. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130217170900/honorverse/images/b/b6/GNS_Honor_Harrington_HOS_eARC.jp...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
Maybe some kind of "flak" shell, which bursts near the target and throws shrapnel, might be viable. But such things would only be useful as close-in defense at very short range, and would not be any better than the Loroi alternatives (lasers, AMM's). I'd say that a "shotgun bullet" would be a bette...

lasers and railguns? yes it's coming, and lasers are already around, railguns not quite there yet...kinda like fusion power, but it probably WILL work which is not certain about fusion any time soon....not talking about how to POWER these babies either, that is gonna be an issue. Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
The Loroi and Umiak are constantly fighting. A single scout that comes back with Loroi or Umiak wreckage would do a lot in that regard. what do you mean with a lot? Exactly how would they come back with a wreckage and from where? Salvaging operations if they are necessary have already been conducte...
