Re: Pages 114, 115, 116
As far as I am aware, a modern non-commissioned officer (corporal, sergeant, etc.) has exactly the same responsibility for the men under his command as any commissioned officer does. Our division between enlisted and commissioned ranks is largely artificial and is a relic of traditional land armies...

I hardly dare to ask, but is there a new target date for the next page?

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
From the codex : The Normandy's IES (internal emission sink) stealth system is her most notable feature. For centuries, it was assumed that starship stealth was impossible. The heat generated by routine shipboard operations is easily detectable against the near absolute zero background temperature o...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
stealth does not work in space, nor does it meaningfully work for surface ships, nor aircraft, although the speed involved with aircraft means a slightly shorter distance you are detected at can actually be useful, for ground troops it CAN work though, enough clutter to hide around in. and as menti...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
You know, that's the most cogent argument I've heard for the Starship Luxurious trope. If the amount of pressurized space isn't a factor... who cares about volume so long as you don't meaningfully raise mass?

Re: What to Do with Jardin (Fan Fic)
I have to admit - I avoided this thread for a very long time because of the crack-fic nature of the original posts. Outsider is a serious attempt to translate very soft sci-fi tropes into a much harder sci-fi setting while keeping the space opera themes intact. The last thing I wanted to see was a M...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I can pose an alternative reason to the spaciousness of Loroi ships that doesn't involve the touching taboo. When I was writing my own story, I knew that I wanted some sort of tender-type vessel that included extensive recreational facilities for fleet personnel. It was a design choice when it came ...

Re: Artificial Intelligence
Who's to say the Historians aren't actually AI? Aren't those constructs of theirs the only things that the other races have actually seen? While I personally believe we will have passed the AI singularity by the 2160s, I don't think an AI-augmented humanity would make for a very interesting comic. H...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Valid. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait, whatever it is. One of the parts that makes this comic great is that it *doesn't* conform to the Green-Skinned Space Babe trope. My demands for fanservice are about 99.5% tongue-in-cheek.

For the awesomeness of the comic, I hope Arioch devotes an entire chapter to showing such a bath in full use in the comic pages.

Re: Writing Prompts
For the next prompt, my thoughts on how we got to the Chapter 2 Title Page . Reed was tired. A Soroin Pideir like herself should be used to pulling guard duty, but this was anything but normal guard duty. The first few days of guarding the alien had been a nightmare what with half the damned crew de...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
The typical shipboard Loroi washroom has a small-ish communal tub surrounded by benches in which the Loroi give themselves (and each other) sponge baths before having a soak in the tub. I am a little surprised and simultaneously not at all surprised by this. Of course the Loroi give each other spon...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I had a shower thought yesterday, or rather, a shower question. What are bathing facilities like aboard a Loroi warship? It might seem silly, but seriously, it's a good indicator of how advanced your technology is. You have to have very advanced water reclamation/re-purification technology to afford...

Re: Writing Prompts
Wow, novius, I did not expect that. Originally, I was thinking of these as vignettes, but there's nothing wrong with tying them together. I figured the second would be isolated from the first because it happened before, chronologically. I've got another, longer, prompt that focuses on Reed pulling g...

 *slowclap* Wow, shadow, that was outstanding. You captured the feel of the comic perfectly . Writing Prompts
From other forums and fandoms, I've found these to be a fun way to pass the time. For those unfamiliar, you can either post writing prompts for scenes or write scenes to answer them. To start, here's the eventual follow up from pages 38 and 47 . Beryl leaned forward, eyes alight at the chance to gle...

Re: New here...
My goal is to have a new page up next Monday. I don't know if I'll be able to accomplish that, but I'm announcing it here so you can jump up and down on my head if I don't get it done. I just joined the forums for the first time and wow... what an update to see! Long time lurker, first time poster....
