Re: Page 117: I will demonstrate!
I disagree, we have all the information we need. The Loroi have used genocide twice in the past and the last time with the Tithric it was hailed as a major victory. Arioch has stated in the comic that extermination is the likely fate of the loser of this war and possibly even their client states as...

Re: Page 117: I will demonstrate!
As Absalom and Harlequin pointed out, there are circumstances which prompt the Loroi into acts of xenocide which may make them likely to commit such in the future. It would depend on the circumstances of a given species whether the Loroi would (attempt) to wipe them out or not. I was just about to ...

Re: Page 117: I will demonstrate!
Cool, so do you think it likely or unlikely that the Loroi will commit xenocide in the future? As Absalom and Harlequin pointed out, there are circumstances which prompt the Loroi into acts of xenocide which may make them likely to commit such in the future. It would depend on the circumstances of ...

Re: Page 117: I will demonstrate!
Razor, are you a forum Moderator? Just wanted to confirm. Yes, but don't let that deter you from disagreeing with me, I mostly just clean up spam when bots decide to invade the forum. As a general rule, I recuse myself from moderating discussions I'm a part of, since it's difficult to be objective ...

Re: Page 117: I will demonstrate!
Even with the War going on, I can see the Loroi sending out punitive expeditions, or resorting to aggressive gunboat diplomacy, but unprovoked species level genocide? No. As Imperialistic and militaristic some of the loroi are, they're not xenophobic to a fault. I betcha five bucks the Loroi send a...

That was me I believe ; It's amazing what you've done with a great humorous prompt fic, taking it in directions beyond mere crack and having an honest examination of the events. By all means, keep it up! Although, reading it, this did pop into my brain. -- Fleetwide Bulletin System Under no ci...

Re: Up coming games
Guess I'm in the minority when it comes to the appreciation of ancient games, but I view classics like Dune 2, the original SimCity, System Shock and so many others in a similar vein to classic cinema. The early 90's were a golden age of experimentation and untried methods, a cambrian era of untried...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Some people think it is a tradition that come from ancient times when people would check to make sure the other wasn't armed , but there is some evidence that it is also used to transfer personally identifying smells. But I suppose if Beryl can learn English in a short while, the myriad of customs ...

Re: Up coming games
hi hi For what it's worth, I haven't played System Shock, or any of its progeny. Haven't played Unreal either. First person games in general tend to make me motion sick and then it's bad times all around. I understand the motion sickness angle. Games since Half-Life 2 and onwards have all g...

Re: Up coming games
What is "System Shock"? Do I need to wikipedia for it? I seem to be the only gamer who never played System Shock or any of its progeny. Heretics, both of you. Still, late is better than never. You can grab them both on Steam for a grand total of $20 and get more entertainment out of them then a $10...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I'm surprised that you'd expect many human religions to view aliens so negatively. The major religions have historically not reacted well to developments that challenged their existing world views. There is no mention of aliens in any of these traditions, and so the appearance of aliens will, at th...

Re: P A G E 1 1 3
And the context of the conversation seems obvious that Alex was there. If it was just Talon talking to herself or to Spiral, it really doesn't make sense to say "You would have bet the same if you had seen it," when Talon was there and had seen it, and bet the other way. I think you're spot-on here...

Re: Outsider in Stellaris.
Unless you have a stupidly overpowered economy, you're always going to go into the negatives when you undock your fleets for war. The best way to forgo a war is to actually prepare for one. Max out your fleet strength ASAP and fortify your colony worlds; don't bother fortifying anything else other t...

Re: Outsider in Stellaris.
Fallen Empires tend to be paper tigers, even when they're reawakened. As long as you kit out your ships to a build that counters their inherent advantages, your fleets should be able to punch well above their weight. My advice: Fallen Empires tend to utilise ships with long range, loads of fighters,...

Re: STEALTH!!!...IN SPACE!!!
What about cooling only the outer layer of armor? Of course, the rest of the ship would heat it back, but not instantly. Space has an ambient temperature of -270 C or so. To cool the outer layer of armour and keep it at that temperature, you'd need to eliminate all possible contacts with the intern...

Re: STEALTH!!!...IN SPACE!!!
Therefore, If the loroi can predict where the Umaki will be by using their Farseers and can arrive at that location before the Umaki do, then they could plant some radar deflecting super weapon with a black paint job at the battle site ahead of time and catch the Umaki off guard. This assumes that ...
