Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
hi hi Well, if Loroi captives are part of their far-sensor blocking technology, they might have some along. Or they could just play an old clip and use it as a ruse to dock with the Tempest and then they spring their sneak attack boarding party. A human captive might work too though. Edit: Even if ...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
hi hi Judging by the looks on their faces, the Umiak just revealed something that is making everyone uncomfortable. Perhaps the Umiak are saying they will exchange prisoners for the wreckage? The Umiak did occupy a number of Loroi colonies early on in the war, when they were still treating it as a ...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
Ahem..In real life. Yes. But this is sci-fi. Where vessels can sneak up on you (enemy vessles got within 60km of Bellarmine, Loroi couldn' detect Umiak until lafter tehy exited the cloud. And I can guarantee you those superheavies put out a LOT more power than a single mass driver platform) It's be...

Re: Page 87
Question? How would the Umiak or Loroi react to the fact that humanity has detonated over 2000 nuclear and thermonuclear weapons on our planet during a fifty year time span? (Over one half of those were done by America and around 40% by the USSR). How did the Loroi and Umiak deal with their own nuc...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
Well, granted, I didn't check the distance. But it's not supposed to be practical. It's supposed to be damaging.A gaint act of defince. It's a rather silly act of defiance all things considered. Frankly, varriant 1, sticking mass driver platforms 10000km from eachother in a box-like pattern all ove...

Re: two questions about the Loroi Military
how long do they have to maintain physical contact for a telepathic attack to work, it seemed that Fireblade needed a few minutes before she could atempt to scan Alex's mind. Well hypothetically Fireblade was trying to do something subtle. Extract information out of a hard to read prisoner. In the ...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
1) Find out the location of Loroi/Umiak planets. Build Huge-ass mass drivers. Calculate and fire, then scuttle them so the enemy never knows you fired them. The Loroi/Umiak will kill you, but in a hunderd years or so their worlds will be glassed by a deadly rain. Human mass driver projectiles trave...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
In theory, if the jump field generator has enough power and is close enough, it can draw another object into hyperspace. But if you can get a torpedo that close, there are much more straightforward means of destroying a ship. Have it transmit the funniest joke in the world over the short wave radio...

Re: Page 87
Why do either? Well in the case of the Loroi, THEY don't quite know what happened to the Bell(presumably) and want to find out what did happen. Therefore finding out what the Umiak know COULD be useful, and might not necessarily have as much negative consequences as handing over the Bell's remains ...

Re: Page 87
From what I remember reading about the Umiak's relationship with the Loroi before the war broke out, I would have to say that they're probably very good liars. They were supposedly planning to attack the Loroi from the moment they first met, but managed to interact and trade with them for some time...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
I was talking about 1 vs 1 engagements. The only way a Umiak ship could expose the defending terran ship is to come in close...very close. Otherwise...yes, it could stay at range and fire.. Why would the Umiak only send in a single capitol ship to attack humanity? What with their ship building capa...

Re: Page 87
well the Bugs seem to be completely in the dark. the didn't even know what the Loroi were looking at until the last group got a look at it. though I love the fact they think it was the loroi that blow it up which just shows how out of the loop they are. but I have to say I respect them for at least...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
And max range of mass drivers in space are infinite, so we can get some lucky shots and also destroy any ship who has lost its controls. (Escape velocity from sun system is only 525 km/s) It's infinite against stationary targets. The problem is that requires the Umiak to not bother moving for an ho...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
Of course, if the enemy outnumbers you too, that's another kettle of fish. You'd need more asteroids :P The enemy doesn't need to outnumber you to flank the asteroid ships. http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/9391/asteroidbattle1.png -3 Terran asteroid ships vs 2 Umiak ships. Their rocks provide the...

Re: Random Discussion on Weapon Systems
Culture...not J-pop. In the original Macross, Zentradi were exposed to human culture and were beginning to splinter and defect. Music/singing was just there to tip the already wobbly scale. It's in the sequels where the horiblness of J-pop as weapon truly begun. Everything except the Original Macro...

Re: Page 86
It's been mentioned the Umiak are trying to build up a sufficiently large fleet to steamroll the Loroi... Maybe it finally happened. 10 superheavies??? The Loroi are fukked. I don't think the Loroi are going to get screwed over by just ten super heavies. Remember that for them that a small understr...

Re: Random Discussion on Weapon Systems
That´d be boring. Because real Heroes are born only in desperation. Except given the scale of the opposition the Macross is dealing with, the Macross cannon doesn't really qualify as a super weapon. Sure, it can one shot an enemy ship. But the enemy even at their lowest point had TENS OF THOUSANDS ...

Rather thorough for the Umiak to have given their infiltrator false memories/personality in spite of him being immune to Loroi mind readingdfacto wrote:Alex is the infiltration team.

I REALLY doubt it's that.
