Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
If one side can force the other to remain in sealed suits the whole battle, that might be worth considering. I'd had this thought too. I think the Loroi would definitely be susceptible to this; the Fireblade and Spiral are both pretty quick to take off the armor layers of their outfits when everyon...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
A variant is that the lone survior of a mixed crew are the long lived species now terribly alone after the others died of unless they managed to repriduce. If they did had children then the last survivor are an old relic surrounded by the descendents of the people this person arrived with. Both vari...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Speaking of that, how come that in fiction with similar things happening with mixed crews the different speed of aging are forgotten? Star Trek Enterprise due to an anomaly meet up with its time lost twin. Old T'Pol seem older then she should have been. And in World of Warcrafts first expansion the...

Re: Happy Halloween 2020
The thing about pitching in where so we are not cheap freeloaders. A way to do this is of course other commissions (Christmas are incoming for instance) or simply pitching in by say becoming a patreon for the comic.

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thread
Maybe the Umiak build ships out of Lego? Standardised components easy to slap together in such a way that the resulting ships look non standarised but the components are easily interchangable? Plug and play all the way! That would also come in handy when heavily damaged ships are stripped down for p...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
A really good reason to not gas your enemy is that those that you fail to kill are likely to answer in kind. Your own troops knows this so expect morale to plummet if you try that.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
The danger would be more in the engineered bodies itself. Since any biosphere they might decide to settle in might be able to support the biogineered bodies, but germs would not be specific to their bodies and thus no effective pressure for genetic health would be there. On a very long time scale t...

Re: Page 189: GO AWAY!
On a side tangent, has there been any indication as to "How far" in the future this is taking place from Alex's perspective? I'm willing to guess he might be talking to other Humans, giving a debriefing of what had occurred. Not sure I understand -- how far in the future "what" is taking place? Ale...

Re: Happy Halloween 2020
I wanted to maintain a sword and sorcery (and gunpowder) theme with my Halloween commissions, next one will probably be Beryl; lets see if I figure out something appropriate for her until next year :P Wait, I am confused - apologies - but did you draw this for a commission or did you commission thi...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
In legalese a soldier may not dress as civilian to avoid capture but they are also legally bound to resist with any means necessary any and all forms of foreign occupation (legal authority may give orders for a stand down that would make further fighting 'illegal' but it all depends if such legal o...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
The concept of civilians will always complicate warfare. Civilians produce resources the enemy war machine need including recruits to become new soldiers. Civilians paricipate actively in occupation of counquerd land by moving in as settlers to displace the local population. Thease occupying civilia...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Either they missed Sol, or explored past it (or didn't head Coreward all that deep) It would be interesting if the wreckage of an old exploration ship where found somewhere deep into humanity space. It could be useful as a plotpoint in a fanstory at least. By chance the old wreck are techlevel at t...

Re: Page 187: CRUNCH
Surviving on an occupied planet isn't easy. One look at the ships sensors will expose the survivors infrared signatures. Keep looking at them a bit to sort out animals and then. Orbital bombardment time!

Re: 174-175: Got milk?
This reminds me of how the Spartans treated the Helots... Considering that it was a Spartan rite of passage to murder a Helot at night time without being discovered and then to become part of the Krypteia whose main purpose was to terrorize Helots; the Loroi civilians had it better. A lot better wh...

Re: 174-175: Got milk?
What they eat depends on what's available; in some locations (such as Beryl's diral on Mezan, or when training is on a space station) there is no native life at all. In such a case the diral is usually given an insufficient supply of rations, and they are expected (and encouraged) to steal more. A ...

Re: [Fanfiction] Remembrance
I was reminded of an episode of Star Trek Enterprise where they had captured an enemy an in a bid to pump him for infomation had him drugged and placed together with Captain Archer inside a simulated shuttlecraft. The idea was that years had past and they where together escaping a prison colony. It ...

Re: This is why every AI needs the Three Laws of Robotics
Even leaving aside the practicalities of implementing the three laws, what gets lost a lot is that the three laws stories were often about the ways the laws go wrong. Hell, the first law makes for perfect justification of taking over the world to protect humans from themselves, depending on the def...

Re: This is why every AI needs the Three Laws of Robotics
What I see here is human behaviour. It is the eternal conflict between the have's and the have not's. Sadly, if you get a bit ahead, you must expect that there eome among those lagging behind that will not learn from your example of how to succeed. Thease people will be hell bent on figuring out how...
