Re: Star Wars SPOILERS ALLOWED

Agreed. Personally I know there's a LOT of love for the movie right now, but I honestly expect it'll end up being another Avatar, beloved in theaters, but rapidly fading away in the collective conscious.

Re: Page 110!

I definitely get the feeling that Beryl is interested in Alex at least from the perspective of thinking first contact with a new species is amazingly cool and interesting, a perspective that I don't think is shared by some of her peers. Then again, perhaps anyloroi who feels like they are something...

Re: Stars in Shadow

Good news!

Greenlight seems kinda odd to me in that they ask you to rate ANY game, it seems like they would want to target fans of whatever genre the game is in to see how THEY feel about it. I would say I'm sure Valve knows what they're doing, but I'm pretty sure they don't.

Re: The "Real Aerospace" Thread

I question whether it should be so specific as a planet (there are proposals for O'Neill cylinders & such, after all, and shorter-term for "dumbell" stations), but yes. Sure, but can those serve long-term on their own? You need to have the ability to acquire natural resources and produce spare part...

Re: Star Wars SPOILERS ALLOWED

Nothing about the Republic and the First Order made any sense to me when I watched the movie. The only hypothesis that so far made any sense to me was that after the Empire fell, the Republic eventually called a truce with the Imperial remnants, which became the First Order, and the two powers had ...

Re: Star Wars SPOILERS ALLOWED

As a curiosity I'd like to know who pushed for the expanded universe to get disregarded. Some of the disney marketing thinkers, JJ Abrams, or something Lucas did that pissed others off during closed door meetings. It was a pretty obvious move. The EU is VERY densely populated, so threading new stor...

Re: The "Real Aerospace" Thread

I still dont understand why we want to bother going to Mars in person anyway. Let the rovers go down in the gravy well. Use the people to man stations on the moon and start up some manner of resourcing and manufacturing capacity. Even that can be largely auto or tele-operated. Because it's there. M...

Re: Page 110!

I know the scene is mean to be cute, but Beryl allowing herself to fall asleep in front of her superior and her charge/ambassador?! That´s Star Trek level of incompetence, not to mention disrespect. Imagine the consequences in any real life Army for such behaviour. Thing is we don't know how long s...

Indeed.

Make your choice Alex. Adorable Beryl or sexy Kikkitkitk (sp? Not that I even tried.)

Re: Page 108 & 109 Discussion

Reassignng all fleets (minus safety) away front all other borders to go to the Loroi would be a major logisitc achievement. It does not really seem to fit their mindset. Also, the ships would not arrive all at the same time, as closer borders have a shoeter traveltime than the borders in the other ...

Re: Page 108 & 109 Discussion

I seriously doubt they have a thick layer of defensive fleets surrounding their entire empire. If they did then they could just strip that layer, launch one single enormous attack and then when the Loroi are crushed send them all back.

Most of the reason I add the Soia as an option is because they're not the obvious choice. Umiak are obvious and the obvious second string would be the Historians.

Re: Page 108 & 109 Discussion

I actually have to wonder why the Umiak bothered killing the Bellarmine in the first place, though. Maybe their alien thought processes mean they do try to kill low-priority targets first. We don't have any particularly strong evidence about who killed the Bellarmine. If it was the Umiak they very ...

Re: Page 108 & 109 Discussion

A backdoor that is swamped by an invasion army. Not really? The Umiak rolled over the Orgus pretty quick IIRC, I doubt there's a significant naval force left behind. Why would they WANT a base in our area? If they wanted to try and push the Umiak's flank by edging into the Great Wasteland, they cou...

Re: Page 108 & 109 Discussion

Our vast industrial base, capable of producing all of...six cruisers. As has been pointed out that's in peacetime with literally no threats known. That being said that's not even what I was talking about. I'm talking about logistics. The Loroi can establish a base in our area and we can provide a s...

Re: Star Wars SPOILERS ALLOWED

The only thing that really made me scratch my head, in terms of stuff retconned from the original trilogy, was the lightsaber. Didn't the lightsaber that Luke got from his father fall into oblivion when his hand was cut off? How did they find that thing? :P Presumably it got sucked into a vent same...

Re: Star Wars SPOILERS ALLOWED

Please read some of the books from the expanded universe. Especially the "Young Jedi Knights" series, which delves into the training of young Jedi. A heavy emphasis upon lightsaber training is integral for all Jedi, as the Sith were not the only threat that existed in the Star Wars Universe. Not by...

Re: Star Wars SPOILERS ALLOWED

The female hero picks up a lightsaber and MLG no-scopes the Dragon of the movie in their first fight, who has been personally trained by Luke Skywalker and a Sith lord (if anyone says she was victorious because said dragon was already wounded be quiet you know nothing of the Sith). Few quibbles. It...
