Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

How many chromosome pairs do Loroi have? Do loroi females have an XX and males have an XY chromosome? Is their genetic material traceable to that of their world of origin? Human DNA for instance carries a lot of viral and evolutionary baggage. Some of it active and necessary (for instance for a fet...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Any spacecraft with ~1G+ acceleration can hover above a stationary point on the surface and descend into the upper atmosphere to deploy troops, but when there are enemy forces on the surface shooting at you (which is presumably always going to be the case when dropping an invasion force), you're pr...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

300 km is a long, long time to be falling with a parachute. Anything that's 300 km up and falling "straight towards" a planet like Earth, will turn into a spectacular display of fire and debris. Except tungsten rods. These things (Rods from God) will hit the surface with the force of a small tactic...

Re: Outsider Musical Character Portraits

but obviously something went terribly wrong sometime after the Loroi were created. Loroi feminism... It began with voting rights. Fifty years later they complained about the wage gap between them and the Barsam heavy infantery. Another fifty years later they complained about not having equal repres...

Re: Page 218: The Volunteer

When my grandfather, together with my grandmother, moved into a new flat they had finally all for themselves, he bought a Soviet-made refrigerator. Well, it was the GDR, and it was the only one available at that moment, post probably. The funny thing is, it still works, more than half a century lat...

Re: Page 218: The Volunteer

But are the life support systems really so easy to sabotage? Turned out there were a lot of bugs, which made it easy for the systems to be hacked. There should be multiple redundancies, Those ships are made by the bug version of the Soviet Union, which probably means that the crews may be glad if t...

Re: [Wolf329] Fanart (now with animation!)

Not worrying about my own style too much, still just trying to get anatomy and perspective right. Thank you though, it's a far cry from even barely five years ago when I still thought there was no way I'd ever be any kind of an artist. Little preview of the next pic for something simpler than a ful...

Re: [Wolf329] Fanart (now with animation!)

:geek: That's a butter bar, trust and believe I saw stupidity from both genders of that rank. I never was in the army. Part of me regrets that. I got the letter to report for draft physical when I was 18, but they only needed half of of us. Everyone who was sitting at the bar was sent home and every...

Re: [Wolf329] Fanart (now with animation!)

I am surprised that Fireblade's stride is more like that of a model on a catwalk than that of a soldier trained in close-order marching. In real life, if a soldier sashayed like that during Pass In Review, she would be pulled aside and given some special attention regarding her military bearing ......

Re: Expedition

I feel the same about the exchange with Kasham. Like watching an episode of Lower Decks. Look at it this way: the group met a wagie from a hyper advanced, tech level 15 civilization who went for a drive in his car in the weekend to get away from his nagging wife for a few hours and he's going back ...

Re: Expedition

By the way, things like tech levels wouldn't be known "in-universe", that's "meta knowledge", a mechanic from an RP rule book. Hmm. What tech level would you say that we (real Humanity anno 2022) have and, more importantly, how do you know? It can't be from an RP book. Because that's meta knowledge...

Re: Expedition

Can an advanced enough species in this fanfic-verse really detect minds becoming part of Timespace? No. But minds that become part with the fabric of reality can observe events in our universe, like in The Dig from LucasArts. Arthur C. Clarke lets them even manipulate events in our universe in 2001...

1. You should differentiate speech and sanzai. Why not make the latter cursive ? *curls up in fetal position and begins to suck his thumb* No. I'm not going to do that anymore. I will indicate sanzai in the text with "he/she sent", but adding a million [ i ] and [ /i ] pairs went out the window aft...

An example, the villain has captured the hero, and needs to deliver a monologue, no, The Monologue explaining their most nefarious plan. Before this becomes boring, allows the hero to escape too early, or even manages to convince you, the villain pauses, issues some kind of order to his minions wit...

Re: Expedition

I see. That helps a lot.
It's hard to correct something if nobody tells you what to correct. :) Next chapter won't see many lengthy monologues, but it will contain a lot of scene switches. I'll try to do those in a different way as well.

Re: Expedition

The chapter below is -as usual- 100 percent canon and 100 percent serious. It also reveals Meow's purpose, which is completely credible and not over the top at all. More like -300% canon, but at least it's funny. There's the same problem as with the last chapter, though. The formatting is utterly c...

2. By Mystic, I meant someone who deals with the more esoteric stuff. Fringe psionic techniques, rare means of telepathic treatment, etc. Maybe there's even a rank and title for that, buried somewhere in the byzantine caste hierarchy? I don't have a title for something like that. I'd go with "orige...
