Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

This has probably been answered, but I couldn't find it, and I've looked a ton of pages in this thread. How long can Loroi extend their lives artificially, is 400 years an already artificial extension of their lifes or specially valuable individuals receive superior medical treatment? What about the...

Re: The importance of skill in ever more advanced wars.

For many reasons, I think using unmanned combat machines (regardless what AI they do or don't have) dramatically favours the aggressor in any planetary invasion. To start with, it's hard to bring vast numbers of troops through space, and the aggressor is likely to be outnumbered. But with orbital s...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Is the smell described in #48 (smoky and sweet like smoldering vanilla candles) the natural scent of Loroi? Yes. "Ok, people, final pre-production check of the new courtesan race. 10 females per male: check, almost everyone prefers females, good efficient ratio. Pretty, young looking all their live...

Re: The importance of skill in ever more advanced wars.

2 Let's not get crazy, a UAV probably couldn't carry that much weight, and considering they are unmanned, why carry them at all? I would just stick with exosuits that help lighten the load you carry, there is a level of strength that you probably won't use in an everyday long-range war. 3) To be co...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror

*Heats up Popcorn* Some people like being inflammatory on the internet, it sparks intense thoughts and is fun to read. I think this forum is pretty sheltered when it comes to people yelling and being harsh with material or literature. That's why when the occasional loud or inflammatory post come al...

Re: The importance of skill in ever more advanced wars.

Nice topic :P Let me start offtopic -lol- by saying I would see ground war between organized armies at Outsider's technological level as the realm of either remotely controlled or fully AI controlled vehicles and tin-mans. Such equipment is expensive but nothing close to raising, training, equipping...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Well, I don't know how violent the Loroi are as a society, we know that as a civilization they are not warmongers. Do members of the warrior castes usually solve problems and disagreements with blood and violent coups? I would expect the caste system would make loroi in the same caste more peaceful ...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror

@Grayhome: by that standard the humans brought a concealed weapon to the negotiations, after all they are strong soldiers which are trained in hand to hand combat, and the other side in the negotiations are built like normal females that have never seen how strong they truly are. He could get close...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror

I was going to re-read the whole thing before comenting, because I spotted some tiny mistakes, but I'll do that later. Simply want to say that I look forward to your next piece during the long days without Outsider updates lol, the world Arioch created is fascinating and your story is awesome. Take ...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

I see what you mean about warrior cultures, and indeed they are in charge and might get the best telepaths for their caste, but still among the Loroi there are many well differentiated castes and each seem to govern themselves as they see fit (as long as they produce results for society as a whole)...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

@anamiac: By unity I don't mean single minded ideas, but pulling many people together, amassing resources towards achieving a single goal by whatever means. For example, things like the great wall in china, the trans-siberian railway, the suez and panama channels, the manhattan project, the three go...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Long time reader, first time poster. Let me start by saying that I read tons of webcomics and manga, hundreds, more even, and I can name less than 5 I would regularly check for updates for a whole year in the unlikely hope of seeing a new page. This webcomic is just that good, so thanks Arioch for t...
