Don't really wanna mess with the router, since I live in a house with a bunch of people...

Well if we need to mess with port, I can do that since I done a bunch of port forwards with my router before
EDIT: Well I don't think I can make it to the the 9am PDT game on Saturday, found an open house at a college that I want to transfer to that starts at 9:30 am and won't get back till 11:30 am, I can join mid game if its possible or when we plan another one.

Probably because there already is an Atlantic Time zone. Just not with a ton of folks occupying it. Some small part of Canada if I recall correctly, (Might be Newfoundland Time instead though) but for the States, only the territories of the U.S. VI and Puerto Rico use it. And since they don't use DST, they are on the same time as Eastern until this weekend, when the rest of us move back an hour while they stay the same.
And I would love to participate, being in the US Eastern myself, except I am overtasked with the spawn... Nonetheless, I wish you all well, and on th eremote chance the spawn and spouse are otherwise occupied, I might drop in, if nothing else, just to chat.

I'm in the UK on GMT 0 time (our clocks just went back from summer time +1).
I know kushan_pilot also has the game, hes somewhere around texas. Not sure of the time zone of the top of my head but no doubt he could be coaxed into a game.
The mission concept is odd at first, I'm still getting my head around it. I've not touched the game much since the initial release and big fubar on steam. I do prefer direct control over the ships but it seems a reasonable game mechanic.

I don't think we were planning to play the unstable Sots 2, we are doing it on Sots 1 complete edition so we can get a good game.
Texas is central time zone so +2 hours from PDT.
Anyways from my previous post edit, I won't be able to make the 9 am PDT game, would it be possible to start it in the afternoon?

Something came up that I need to take care of. I'll prolly be back 11:30-noon PDT. It's cool if you guys wanna start without me, just make sure there's a hiver AI in game that I can take control of
I'll see you on Vent when I get back.

We were playing w/all the expansions IIRC. Unless you can join an expanded game without said expansions... Sorry I had to drop out early guys
There was a bit of moving that needed done and it took me by suprise. BTW, was the AI Hiver able to take a colony from the orange whales?

I wouldn't put too much stock in dreadnaughts. Yes they're big and bad, but I would rather have a shielded cruiser fleet with superior weaponry than a smaller bunch of mid tier weapon dreads. I don't usually go dread until well, well into the AM era.
I do the opposite and push for early dreads. dreadnaughts don't have the on paper firepower of cruisers, but they have great survivability, the right of way in movement, and concentration of what firepower they do have. Shields on cruisers I don't find so useful, I'd rather have an assault or battle bridge command, though absorbers are awesome on everything.

I might be able to fix my PC soonish (laptop is incapable of handling SotS) but I'd still be down for another game in the near future.

I guess some options could be:
- Tighter map
Max out starting Tech
Have a few starting colonies
More cash to start with
Economic efficiency increased
Research efficiency increased

I think we should also have timed turns. Just in case someone forgets to hit the button
