To be honest I think this would work better as live action. Cheesy "we're aliens because our faces are superficially different" costumes have worked for Star Trek, Star Wars, Farscape, Stargate, and other sci-fi productions, so there's no reason why space elves would be a deal breaker. Of course then you have to hire people and hope they can act at B movie level at least.
If it were live-action, it'd probably work best as something along the lines used for making Sanctuary. Heavy green-screen and CGI-effects.

Yeah, this is how I imagine it too. Still need actors for animation though, lousy voice actors can be just as bad as lousy normal actors. Worse, even.

For some reason elves and live action have never struck me as anything other than cheesy. Personal bias, I guess.

eeeww. dont ever do a live-action of outsider. CGI (like FF:spirit within) can be accepted, but real actor? with that much make up on the "loroi" it wouldnt feel serious enough.
