I sort of assumed that Beryl would try to sit beside him so I guess Tempo ordered her to sit somewhere else. Apparently the soldiers are at the back behind Tempo but I thought that one of them where placed on Alex side. Fireblade is nowhere to be seen either.

This is the second or third time Alex doesn't seem to remember someone's name. Is that because of the length of time between seeing them (as when he was in the cell for days) or is hunger getting the better of him?

That would seem (I almost sound like a Loroi) to be a bad handicap for a would-be diplomat on Alex's type of mission!

Alex was one of the lowest ranking members on the ship though, not a diplomat, and was brought along presumably for his tactical expertise, not his diplomacy.

Given that he does have a mouth on him, hence his assignment to damage control, it's presumable that he wasn't ever expected to do the talking.

Oh... that's right she is pushing his buttons to see how he will react and is studying his emotional responses. Do you think Loroi have any skill a cold reading? Meaning discerning if someone is being honest in their replies by the consistency of their non-verbal emotional responses...

Or...could she be 'enjoying' this interchange with someone she cannot easily read with her telepathic abilities? She never knows what he is going to say next?

Finally, Alex is asking some important questions. Tempos answers tells us more than just her words and one could wonder why they didn't tell him earlier or why they didn't ask him for that meetingpoint before.

I suppose its possible that Tempo is worried that if Alex gives the coordinates, some zealous captain will go and try to blow up the relay tanker. But I suspect things are more complicated than that.
