Heirs to The Tempest: Goddesses of Blood: Loroi Outpost

With the recent release of 0.42.02 a funny thought hit me. Wouldn't it be fun to do a play-by-committee or Hotseat Let's Play of Dwarf Fortress with a modded Loroi Civilization as the playable race?

The process is simple: Turn a normal dwarf civilization and language into that of elves, then add a caste of smaller males that have a 1:9 birth ratio. Finally, make one in every blue moon a "infertile male" human that can't procreate with Loroi. Now we can play Dwarf Fortress with the cast of Outsider.

Bearded Females are possible.

These are the options as I see them.

Lets Play In the case nobody wants to participate but wants to see what happens to the outpost, I'll do a standard AAR/Let's Play with pictures in my free time. I think a once a week or twice a week update schedule sounds about right.

Play by Council/Committee You all represent one of the characters, who votes in an imaginary council. This way you get to control my actions. For example, you can decide to backstab and seize that human trade caravan... And I'll have to carry it out, for better or worse. Still probably a once a week update schedule, but will have to allow for enough time to debate in which way to expand the outpost next.

Hotseat/Bloodline game The suddenly despotically geniocratic Loroi rotate a new Empress (Game Master/Let's Player) for one full gameplay year to lead the fortress as they seem fit. Probably not something that can be updated every week, because there's a lot of zipping up and sending files back and forth involved.

I'm going to leave this up for discussion for a while, whilst I wait for Dwarf Therapist to be released for 42.02, as I will require that. I'm good at Dwarf Fortress, but not THAT good.

Sounds Fun! I'm not very good at Dwarf Fortress, but I like watching people play it!

I would be in favor of the play by council rout, that way more people can be involved. :)

Sounds fun. I vote for council. I suggest something like what Razor's doing with the Outcast Quest.

Dwarf Therapist is already out, so I've looked into modding civilizations a little. Managed to turn the dwarves into Loroi, with a 10:1 female/male ratio. However, I'd have to test-play until the first migrant wave to know for certain if it works.

Because of the nature of Dwarf Fortress, the randomized elf names aren't very loroi-like. I'm also still looking for a good tile pack to play with.

That reminds me, do you guys want the female loroi to have beards? Because that's an easy to fulfill option.

Hell no. Per their elven nature, no facial hair.

Also, I vote AAR.

If you wanted to go all out, you could probably make a custom language for them based on trade. I believe there's even a tool out there for generating it, if you only want 'like trade' rather than 'actually trade'.

Ed: I'm interested in reading this, and maybe even playing with the modded civilization you're making, but I'm not prepared to commit to a slot in any play rotation

Can you find that tool for me? Even if it's gibberish, that sounds hilarious.

EDIT: I think I found what you are referring to, but it looks pretty complex. Might be worth a shot though. Will look into it further after I finish being lazy.
