I know the scene is mean to be cute, but Beryl allowing herself to fall asleep in front of her superior and her charge/ambassador?! That´s Star Trek level of incompetence, not to mention disrespect. Imagine the consequences in any real life Army for such behaviour.

On a very long shuttle ride with not a whole lot to do. I don't have the foggiest about military protocol and discipline, but I figure that even the hardest of superiors will let the soldiers under their command to relax instead of forcing them to maintain perfect discipline for a very long trip and reserve the perfect behaviour for when it matters most.

If my experience in the army is any indication, one needs to sleep at every opportunity cause they don't know when they are going to sleep next.

In this case, Beryl falling asleep may seem iffy but the shuttle ride ain't exactly a formal meeting and as such one tends to lower their guard and fall asleep, especially if they haven't gotten much sleep lately; something that may be the case if Stillstorm is anything like some of my more hardline officers.

I did that during a weapons demonstration, a sergeant woke me up by slapping the back of my neck .

Loroi ideas about military decorum may well be different than human ideas.

For all we know, Tempo may have dismissed Beryl via sanzai.

And once again, Beryl takes the spotlight.

I'm guessing that either absorbing lots of new information is tiring, or Beryl has been awake for a while.

That or Tempo used some kind of telepathic knockout to keep Beryl from spilling the beans. ((Conspiracy theories, gooo! ))
