I definitely get the feeling that Beryl is interested in Alex at least from the perspective of thinking first contact with a new species is amazingly cool and interesting, a perspective that I don't think is shared by some of her peers.

Then again, perhaps anyloroi who feels like they are something of an outsider compared to how a loroi is supposed to think and behave, might be able to establish some common ground with Alex. (Maybe Fireblade even.)
Given that she's a Mizol, even Tempo might count. It's a shuttle full of misfits at this point.

Fireblade is an Outsider to the Loroi given where she grew up and her relative lack of proper training. Beryl is also a xenophile. I believe that Arioch has hinted in the past that the name of the comic pertains to more than just Alex.

Outsiders we know of so far

Fireblade: yikes... where to begin.

Beryl: asks far to many questions, never a good thing in a Feudal society.

Alex: the obvious one, being the alien psionic null thrust into a world of telepaths.

Stillstorm: the lone survivor, most of her friends and family are gone.

Tempo: the spy and assassin, shunned due to her racial background and occupation.

Possible others

Talon: last of her squad.

Ashrain: cast out by her family to triumph or die.

Greywind: The Mizol Emperor that would never get to the throne if not for the war and her preparedness to do whatever it takes to win it.

At this rate, there's not going to be any insiders.

Oh sure, all the grunts you see in the background going about their duties.

Nope, those are outsiders too.
They get to do the work, but they're OUT of information on how, what, and why, and they are definitely OUT of any decision making, including their own selves. They go where others decide they will go.
They are not insiders to any meaningful information and decision making process.

By that definition, at least half the Loroi mentioned by Graywind are insiders.

Everybody is an outsider, one way or another.
I just wanted to point out how the grunts are outsiders.

Ashrain requested transfer to the front lines.

hi hi

I'd wager that Cloud is almost certainly an insider. Perhaps the most insidery insider you could find. Who else could take someone's shoes and give them away to a total stranger and suffer no comeuppance? The insiderest person, that's who. :D

I thought they were her size shoes, not her actual shoes... as in Beryl had them manufactured to that size. I am guessing it wouldn't be that big of a technological burden to 3D print (or some other technology) clothing items that might wear out, on demand.

The problem is the color, exact same color as a Teidar's armor. If it could manufactured on the spot then they could pick an other color. I think that Alex is wearing one of Fireblade's spares.

Bet Fireblade is pondering wryly, 'What's next.. my crewsuit or undergarments?'

Those last panels are very much LOL wut?

Very minor thing, Arioch, the shading on the seam on Alex's left shoulder in the third panel doesn't quite line up the way it looks like it should. It's shaded so that the deepest point of it isn't the line of the seam itself. Just something to fix if you ever go through and do some touch-ups.

Interresting concept, if in the mist of a battle your quarter get destroyed along with your cloat you can "print" a new set instead of waiting 10 month for ressuply.

other option is "paint on" cloth. It the most viable and economical solution for loroi! *drool*

Alternatively, they have a storeroom with miscellaneous supplies and spares.

I think Tempo certainly noticed before Alex did that Beryl had fallen asleep. In cell three she even looks like she's leaning forward to regard Beryl fallen asleep, but her expression 'seems' to be focused on Alex... perhaps she is starting to see what Beryl finds so charming in our hero?

He does not get defensive or bored but starts asking relevant questions... in her area of expertise.. not only is he scientifically minded but also politically adept! Tempo is not quite smiling at him but is definitely interested in his responses...she is clearly measuring Alex up.

The next page should be VERY interesting! :)
