Alright. The question of the old Outsider RP. What should we do with it? I can currently see five options. If you're interested in an RP, then post here with your preferred option (or add a new option if you can think of one).
1. We continue the RP where it left off. Requires some work in getting all the most recent events into this forum.
2. We continue the RP, but introduce significant changes to ensure the RP gets going at a brisk pace, instead of the slow crawl it was at toward the end.
3. We scrap the old RP entirely and start a new one, but still in the same setting (Eriandri) as before.
4. We scrap the Eriandri setting and create a new one.
5. We scrap the RP and don't create a new one.

I vote for 3 or 4. Martenzo you said you have some free time would you be willing to become gamemaster one more time?

About 4. Some time ago I had idea about making RP during first contact with loroi. Instead lone survivor a group of humans got rescued aboard tempest(or it can be completely different ship, we know 4 scouts were launched). Players playing on both sides. Of cores idea need some discussion and polishing.

That sounds fun. But i was also thinking that Mixed Crew Terran Warship would have been fun too. Maybe a attempt of the multicultural Terran to attempt to strengthen bonds of the alliance, or union. I was thinking making the ship a warship of capital class, perhaps a Hybrid Aircraft Battleship (similar to the role that Galactica has.), that way we can have the full spectrum of the roles. engineering, marines/security, ships crew,aircrew, and split them up in officers and enlisted. And players can play any race in the union that are not subjected.... correction Subjugated races.

I like this, just because it really lets us roam through the whole Outsider universe. We have the huge Insider folder that Arioch made, it'd be a shame not to use it.

That does sound like a very interesting idea. I think I have ideas already.

EDIT:..... I just had an absolutely brilliant idea. I'm going to pitch it by all of you first, though. The game would be set a few years after the Umiak-Loroi war ends, possibly something round like thirty or forty years after Human-Loroi contact. The Loroi alliance won, details up for discussion. The mission, at least initially, would be exploring farthest reaches of what was once Umiak space.

The best part comes now. The ship would be the one and only Tempest. The short story of what happened to the Tempest. In the later years of the war, the Tempest essentially became obsolete and was marked for decommissioning. Instead of being scrapped for parts, the Colonial Fleet (CF) bought it from the Loroi. The Tempest was studied by TCA scientists, but revealed no new insights into Loroi technology. The Loroi had already provided the Terrans with most of the (by then obsolote) technology aboard it. The Tempest was then decommissioned again, this time by the CF. After the war, the need for a combat-capable, fuel-efficient long-range scout for exploring the far reaches of Umiak Space came up. The TCA, wanting to prove itself useful, volunteered to provide a ship. The Tempest was dusted off, re-fitted with a considerable amount of prototype human technology, and recommissioned. When other species of the Loroi alliance got wind of this exploration project, they did their best to join in. They feared that otherwise, the Loroi and Humans would divide the unexplored riches of the Umiak Hegemony between themselves and leave the rest of the Union out of it.

So, without further ado, I present:

Notes: The ECS-Tempest is a heavy refit the old Loroi Vortex Mk.2 class Group Command Ship of the same name. It is the ship that made first Loroi contact with Humanity. The Tempest was bought by the TCA and recommissioned after the war as a long-range recon vessel. Its' most remarkable features are its' numerous experimental systems: the Titan-III secondary reactor, the spinal rail cannons, the emmision-capturing heatsinks and the Vaino power storage unit (VPSU). The Vaino power storage unit is, in essence, a set of massive, high-efficiency rechargeable batteries provided by the Pipolsid. With a full charge, the Tempest can perform routine maneuvers and for approximately one week. At that point, the batteries must be recharged by the solar power arrays. The high-efficiency solar-power array itself was provided by the Neridi. In theory, this combination allows the ECS-Tempest to operate completely independent of supply routes for one year, possibly longer if the crew can restock food and water supplies on discovered planets. The humans themselves provided the Titan-III hot-fusion reactor, which provides the power output necessary for combat, as combat requirements would deplete the VPSU in less than two minutes. In combat, the Titan-III reactor entirely replaces the VPSU as the ship's power source. However, it is possible to use the power stored in the VPSU and provide a brief power boost to a single ship system. This temporary boost capability is reflected by multiple values in the ship specifications. The greatest drawback of the Titan-III reactor is actually it's enormous power output. If the energy it provides is not immediately used up by the ship system, the excess begins to build up in the reactor chamber as heat, eventually resulting in catastrophic system failure.

The humans also provided the main weapon of the ship, the two spinal-mounted rail cannons capable of accelerating a 25 kilogram slug to 1.28% of light-speed. Firing in turns, the two guns together can fire one slug every twenty seconds. Though still useless at long range, the rail-guns were intended to give the ship a fighting chance at close-range combat. The Basram, however, provided their experimental heatsink system, which allows trapping the thermal emissions of a ship inside the hull. The stealth system does have a limitation of about one to three hours, as the heat builds up and would eventually boil the crew inside. After use, the heatsinks need to be removed, loaded on a shuttle and cooled within a planetary atmosphere, a shortcoming which makes frequent use of the system impractical. The innovative technological combination has caused a considerable amount of tension between the Loroi and other members of the Union, particularly the humans.

Initially, the Loroi leadership had little interest in the Tempest Project. They saw it as nothing more than a human attempt to curry favor, a belief that was reinforced when other Union races jumped aboard the project. Then the combat simulations finished and showed that the ECS-Tempest was remarkably more powerful than its' size suggested. Among other things, the simulations showed that utilizing the heatsinks to get to point blank range, the main guns of the Tempest could cripple, or possibly sink heavy warships like the Umiak Type-T. The simulations also showed that the ECS-Tempest is likewise capable of sinking the Cataclysm class Sector Command Ship or even Cry of the Wind, the Emperor's flagship. This fact alarmed the Loroi military commanders due to their so-far minimal involvement in the Tempest Project. To keep an eye on the ECS-Tempest, the Loroi "generously" offered to contribute a Farseer and a number of other Loroi specialists to assist with the mission. Despite the political reasons behind the Loroi presence aboard ECS-Tempest, there is little friction between the Loroi and other species present. Most Loroi assigned to the Tempest quickly came to the conclusion that high command is just being excessively paranoid about its' loyal allies.

And so you know, it should smell a little like star trek. The concept was rooted in what little I knew about that series. Rest assured, the star-trek feeling won't be too overshadowing. I have never actually watched an entire episode of star trek, and it is unlikely that I'm able to reproduce whatever feeling it's supposed to have. Hmm.. thinking back on the Into the Depths, there's something that merits checking. Ah. Fifty private messages maximum. That's definitely an improvement compared to the old forum.

My proposition:

Date : 2175 CE. War between 'Loroi Union' and 'Umiak Empire' continuous to grow over the systems while neutral and allied "lesser" races struggle to survive. Human race consisting now of 8 planets (2 more were colonised) in strength of 29 billion people begun to realise that alliance itself cannot protect human race against death from Umiak hands.

For this reason, the high command of TCA rated priority one the building of new modern fleet to defend humanity. Objective was simple: New fleet, modern unique design, maximal possible modularity in both subsystems and hulls. Whole project named 'MIDGARD' was automatically made top secret, hidden even from Loroi union for time being.(in fear of unwanted reactions to boldly plans).

In 2176 CE, after much rivalry, small company named "Space tech" presented a whole family of "new" human ships. Project consisted of only 3 main core ships. However their modularity compensate lack of variety, and even provide better service since crew need only to know few designs of ships. Main vessels (not including attached designs of gunships and interceptors) were classed by size: smallest Destroyer, medium Cruiser, biggest Dreadnought.

In 2177 CE The budget was accepted on secret vote and Space tech begun to work with all human research stations to design and assimilate the newest human tech in to new ships. In lack of advance energy source and constant refusal of the Loroi to give humanity such tech our engineers were forced to look for something new. In may of 2177 research team under a leadership of professor D. Anders developed substitute to energy problem. They focused on old, almost accident human concepts of cold fusion reactors and with help of far more advanced maths (Loroi gave us everything what they inherited from Soia, thinking it will take us centuries to work out octal mathematics) and new alloys were able to design fuel, reactors and highly effective ship's generators. Such technology still long behind Loroi's antimatter power sources was more than enough for humans at this point and was probably unique in whole galactic as many of new human tech.

The project "MIDGARD" was moving smoothly and at end of 2179 CE humanity possessed one 2tech fleet "Terra pride" in strength of: 2 Dreadnoughts(ECS-Midgard and ECS-Valhalla), 14 cruisers in different configurations (ECS-Guardian, ECS-Avenger, ECS-Victory, ECS-Valor, ECS-Apocalypse, ECS-Liberator, ECS-Warcry, ECS-Emerald, ECS-Sapphire, ECS-Diamond, ECS-Thor, ECS-Anubis, ECS-Odin, ECS-Zeus) and 6 destroyers (ECS-Loki, ECS-Seraphim, ECS-Dragon, ECS-Tiger, ECS- Chrome, ECS-Sparrow). Which gave 22 battle ready, advance vessels. Growing resources consumption and high military recruitment propaganda soon made supervising loroi twitchy. Mystery of the project would last longer if not incident numbered 135#199 in system Prabhu.

In year 2180 Terra pride was deployed in to the Prabhu system to make it's first real combat mission, however during mission they picked up SOS beacon from Loroi cargo convoy attacked but umiak client race's struggles. Human ships in command of Admiral Langford quickly arrived and engaged totally surprised and outgunned hostiles destroying 18 ships and saving 8 loroi vessels plus rescuing 971 passengers from damaged and crippled vessels. The word spread quickly and soon Loroi empire demanded immediate answer for having such fleet and technology at humanity disposal. (Loroi captains were astonished by human ships, their fire-power and overwhelming tactics thus they explained what happened very colourfully.)

Fearing for Union's collapse Loroi didn't initiate any hostile actions against member of union and decided to give humanity chance to prove itself in combat. Additionally they requested single ship to accompany battle drills to train against umiak. In deep negotiations it was agreed that removing barriers between two species and embracing more friendly relationship would bring stable peace and unity. New made strike cruiser ECS-Eglantine(named after the Space tech chairman's recently deceased daughter) was chosen for that role. Agreement was simple half crew human, half loroi and loroi captain. New era of Human-Loroi union was being born in pain.

Technology:
ECS-Eglantine is powered by 3 fusion generators(mark III) and produces about 4,000,000 KJ/ms of pure energy which is far more than enough to supply ship that size. With turbo-ion thrusters it can accelerate to 16G and with unique COMBAT DRIVE installed it can make rapid movements to avoid enemy fire(simply it can direct thrust in to any directions, [as loroi say: only crazy creatures like humans can make a engine which can break ship it to half.]). As all humanity lvl2 vessels Eglantine is equipped with both main and secondary shields. Kinetic barrier as called by humans is unique design of loroi base lvl1 shielding technology. Instead transferring energy from generators on live time the shields are powered from individual generator with powerful capacitor (power of the shields depends on the charge of capacitor which will slowly deplete with enemy hits). Another important feature of kinetic barriers is that it creates invisible "bubble" around a ship instead of making small layer around vessel (Soia base shielding technology). Kinetic barriers are more stable, can stop far more powerful hit than equivalent Soia type shields.
Weapons:
As all strike cruisers Eglantine is armed with 4 Heavy twin torpedo launchers capable to fire high velocity F&F cluster torpedoes which can be deployed at once (effect of swarm missiles good against small approaching targets) or few seconds before impact to capital vessel to increase range of damaged sections.
The HIAX Magnetic-Hydrodynamic Laser is a human-developed, unique probably most advanced laser type weapon. It uses an electromagnetic field to shape and accelerate a stream of superheated molten metal in quark Gamma-ray vortex to relativistic velocities, which then impacts its target and deals horrendous damage. The weapons fire appears as a bright white beam(due to tungsten projectile), although powerful it cannot match more advanced plasma beam weaponry. In combat, the HIAX Cannon is strong enough to destroy a Umiak destroyer in two shots.

Today is 17 November of 2180 CE, the ECS-Eglantine departs from mother dock Sierra One orbiting Mars. Crew: 175. Mission: rendezvous with loroi strike team 71 in Prabhu system, quadrant 43#, resupply and under Loroi commander begin exercises.

Ufff that it.. Moe less, sorry for mistakes if I made any(probably many ;] don't worry I will fix them when I see them), the whole story need good writer to make in hold together I tried to present the facts. More\less it is my proposition.
The ship bases on old game which I used to play when I was young and had dreams of stars. I had shaped it in 3d max and painted. Hope you like it. Later I will make dreadnought and destroyer .
For RP probably needed
: Loroi new captain + few more prominent crew members,
humans: Flag officer(who commands the ship until relived by Loroi), boatswain(chief on ship), diplomatic officer, and of course crew. ;]

ps. I would take flag officer position. ;]

I would be thrilled to be a part of this, if that is acceptable to all involved. The whole mixed ground force thing kinda felt like it was missing the mark for Outsider, really, even with the effort put into it. Glad to be back, in any case. A mixed crew starship sounds interesting. I'd envision a Loroi constructed vessel though, seeing as how they have the technological edge. I'm not much for creating plots right now, but I may have an idea for a ship shortly, for everyones consideration. Seems like Martenzo already has that covered though. :)

I guess I'll post this here, even though it looks like other people are already gearing up themselves.

Shortly after the worlds of Humanity joined the Loroi in their war against the Umiak, a plan was formed to send scouts in search of a "backdoor" into Umiak space from which to launch a surprise attack. With the Terran scout corps severely depleted, a series of smaller scout vessels was commissioned. This small size comes at the expense of endurance, but the scout vessels are not intended to stray very far from their supply ships (which are guarded in force by a small detachment of Loroi strike vessels) In addition to the handful of Terran ships, several small Loroi craft have been assigned to the scouting fleet, however most of them have been damaged in fighting and received only minimal repair, often with human made replacement parts.

The Ultimate Contingency Plan
Contact with the Orgus and the news they brought to humanity proved to be quite a shock. Expanding war on a galactic scale, war that man kind would soon find itself fighting in, one way or another. For the sake mankind, the Scout Corps were sent out to gather intelligence so the TCA could intelligently choose an ally. But what if mankind chose wrong? It was quite apparent from the flight of the Orgus that a plan would need to be made should the worst happen. The factory ship Wayward and the colony ship Nomad are that plan.

The small flotilla would seek out a new home, far from Earth. The Wayward would ensure the ships could travel for as long and as far as they needed. Once a suitable planet had been found, the Wayward would produce everything the colonists would need to start their new life. The Nomad carried colonists as well as state of the art terraforming technology and flora and fauna from Earth. The terraforming equipment greatly increased the range of planets that would be colonize-able. So long as a planet was in a star's hospitable zone, an appropriate atmosphere could be generated (given enough time.) In the mean time, pre-engineered bio domes could be assembled on the planet's surface, allowing the colonists to establish a foot hold on their new home.

Alliance with the Loroi
Just the construction on the Nomad and Wayward would take much longer than the entirety of the Scout Corps fact finding mission. The ships were nearly half finished when the alliance between Humanity and the Loroi was formalized. As part of the terms of the alliance, the Loroi agreed to provide mankind with advanced technologies, many of which were incorporated into the design of the Nomad and Wayward. In addition, the Loroi also provided a destroyer and several smaller, corvette class ships.

The destroyer was rechristened as the ECS-Vagabond, though it, and the corvettes would remain under Loroi command with virtually no human crew or compliment. While the traditional Loroi warship has an all female crew, the Vagabond has a female to male ratio of approximately 6:1. It would seem the Loroi too are seeking out a new home among the stars.

Small hydroponic and algae gardens have been built in nearly every leisure space to supplement the ships food supply, though it's clear that the Vagabond would have to rely on the gardens aboard the Nomad to avoid strict rationing.

With her on-board mining and foundry complex, she can harvest and process whatever ore her tugs bring in. The factory bay can then use that processed ore to create anything from hairpins to combat capable small craft, and ammunition. The versatility in mining and manufacturing comes at the cost of efficiency and speed. Should appropriate resources be found, she even has a small fuel refinery. So long as she can find the right rocks, any fleet traveling with the Wayward can stay out indefinitely.

The Nomad also carries several large hydroponic gardens. During the mission, they will mostly grow algae for fuel and food, though small crops of barley, hops and fruit are grown for R&R purposes.

So IceKatze... the character/actors are the mixed crews of the ESC Earth Scout ships and support ships and Loroi scout patrol cruisers seeking a strategic route for harassment operations behind Umiak Main Battle lines?
