page 62 got me thinking about human names so I looked mine up (my real name), one site said my name was English and means wise protection. another site said it was Germanic and means protecting hands.

Hmm.. What sites did you use to get the meaning of your name? I wish to use them too.

EDIT: Here are the more decent sites I found: http://www.meaning-of-names.com/
http://www.name-meanings.com/
http://www.namespedia.com/index.php/Main_Page

My first name means "fighter" or "warlike". The meaning of my last name was a bit harder to find. Either "blessed" or "of uncertain origin"

Blessed Fighter. Definitely a warrior name :)

Heh. I remember the old thread on this years ago. I also looked up my name back then, and it means "strong shield of the mountain(s)".
Cool, eh? :D

Yes... I did this as Well last I knew my name is old english for "Famous Spearsman from the Town of Watan"... but I'll use the posted sites to see if there is further meaning. :)

EDIT: Ok using the first link, my first name means -
Fame Spear, Gender: Male, Origin: German

My last name means... note sure...hard to find Surname definitions.

I was inspired to translate mine when I was lurking on the old forums. It seems my first name is thoroughly uninteresting, and it just means "man". However, the rest rather makes up for it, and it seems to translate to "Shining Warrior of the Valley".

Clearly a warrior's name, but I suspect Stillstorm would find me even less impressive than she does Alex. I do not look like a warrior either.

Well... in my 75lbs of Double-Ring 3/8ths inch galvanized steel Chain Mail, my leather-winged full Steel Helm, with my sheathed sharpened broadsword at my side and Round Steel Shield on my arm with tabard, cloak, leather thigh-high boots and leather gloves I look the warrior!

But I can also sword fight fairly well ...though Kenjutsu works a little differently when using a double-edged sword, like my 'Blaze'. I'm not really too familiar... with Sword and Shield Style being taught two-handed single long blade style of Kenjutsu. But I get the concept of it.

I'd like to know the meaning of my last name 'Wathen'... but it seems to refer to a town or villiage... as best I can determine.

"God of war" here. If you follow the languages back to latin, otherwise it's just "a form of mars" which is descriptive in a sense, but not really the meaning, it's like defining john as "a form of johnathan".

"lover of horses" and "famous wolf"... I have to go for "devourer of horses", I guess. The surname is just a flat medieval job description.

I have four names each with a single word meaning, though placed together they become a fancy chain. Immovable stone of truth and freedom.
Though the reality probably translates as: stubborn rock. :P

I like to give bold council.
Perhaps too bold, since my family doesn't live on the spot mentioned by the last name. :o

My name could be interpreted to mean "strong and brave farmer of noble birth." I guess my parents didn't bother too much with etymology when choosing my name.

"Conqueror of the Wooded Valley"

BTW--back on TV Tropes we call this "thread necromancy." It's considered a good thing.
