The Langmaker website is now defunct, but I still have the software install package here: http://www.well-of-souls.com/temp/langm ... llinst.zip
Re: Loroi Trade translation request general
I was gonna use that to make Loroi words for MTG use ("haste", "library", "upkeep", etc.) but there's no LOROI.LEX
Re: Loroi Trade translation request general
I need this in Loroi Trade for the motto of the Emirate, please :3Something out of nothing
Re: Loroi Trade translation request general
Reviewing the enlarged intro pages, I just noticed Alex uses 'pipolsid' as translation for 'floating" in his Major Tom song.
So the race is literally called 'The Floaters' in Trade? Are their any other races which have a hallmark of them used as their depiction in Trade?

Milol ronnei bishires (literally "a thing from naught").CJ Miller wrote:I need this in Loroi Trade for the motto of the Emirate, please :3Something out of nothing
That's correct. As you can imagine, the Pipolsid don't have spoken language of their own. Other examples of descriptive Trade race names are golim "loper" and nibiren "farmer".GeoModder wrote:Reviewing the enlarged intro pages, I just noticed Alex uses 'pipolsid' as translation for 'floating" in his Major Tom song.

Rather evocative names. Imagining a photo of a line up of aliens being presented to Loroi children in whatever passes as primary school. This is a farmer, a floater... follows along... sees a human... What name would they give us? An empty? A void? A silent? A wall? A fake/not-Loroi? Everything I can think of makes me think of humans as the boogey man. Not to say thats a bad thing.

Please keep it in universe, fred.
Did you literaly mean "loper" for the golim? Coming from the word "lope"? Bit of a problem at my end finding an exact translation since it means "runner" in Dutch.
Re: Loroi Trade translation request general
Hunter/Gather develops into agriculture. Farming and Animal Husbandry. Thus sayeth the Civilization Tech Tree.

Or the Loroi Acquisition Sequence.Nemo wrote:Hunter/Gather develops into agriculture. Farming and Animal Husbandry. Thus sayeth the Civilization Tech Tree.
Re: Loroi Trade translation request general
The Loroi call them 'farmers' because that's what they use them for. Barsam missionaries taught basic agricultural techniques to some of the tribes, but the Nibiren homeworld is currently a Loroi colony, and farm labor is the only thing the Loroi find the Nibiren "useful" for.GeoModder wrote:Funny thing on the Nibiren/Farmer since they're described as a hunter-gatherer culture.
It means the same thing in English: to run with a long, bounding stride.GeoModder wrote:Did you literaly mean "loper" for the golim? Coming from the word "lope"? Bit of a problem at my end finding an exact translation since it means "runner" in Dutch.

Just out of curiosity, May I ask how the motto "Fearless and faithful* " translates into trade?
*= as in loyal.

Re: Loroi Trade translation request general
I updated the Loroi Trade Lexicon; it now has 50% more entries.
The process of trying to export it from Excel into HTML format really pissed me off, so there may be some errors or missing words from the previous list. The old version of the page is still available at: http://well-of-souls.com/outsider/loroi ... n_old.html If you notice a discrepancy, please let me know.
