Followed afterwards by MoO3, comonly considered the best spreadsheet simulation game ever (glorious sortable columns!).

Disclaimer: I've never actually been in the same room as a running instance of MoO3 (and intend to keep it that way).

I did purchase MOO3, and messed around with it for about 20 minutes. Then never played it again.

A real spreadsheet is much more fun.

MoO3... I erased this game from my memories. But I still have a copy lying around here somewhere. Lurking in the darkness...
I should finally get rid of that thing.

Even peeling away your own skin with a grater should be more fun than this "game".

I played MOO3 with a friend for a while. It was entertaining when the social side was added but still didn't hold a candle to MOO2. After a couple of games we didn't touch it again.

The playing environment in eve is very aggressive and its not a forgiving game to new players. Things have gotten little better with the passage of time, but its still harder to settle into than many other MMO's. Knowing someone who actively plays and is willing to help you goes a long way to making it enjoyable.

But yes, when you start getting into the gritty part of alliances and organised pvp certain expectations and demands are generally laid at your feet. While the put up or shut up attitude does work, its not forgiving to the casual players and so keeps many people from actually sticking to the game passed the first couple of months.

Dust 514 might bring in a few new players but if CCP truely wanted to increase member base they'll have to radically alter the game format or finally introduce the walking in stations aspect of the game and aim it at social gamers.

As it stands and as mentioned, eve becomes a job if you let it :(

Project Eternity made it's 1.1mil goal in 27 hours. They made goal so quickly that Obsidian had to hold an emergency meeting to get their stretch goals defined on a Saturday

That's what I'm at, I'm hoping they'll write the book in the style of the manual from Arcanum

Project Eternity is offering a $5000 level geared towards online comunities where you get to create your own adventuring group to be included as enemies in the game.

The Order of the Tempest
5 or 6 dark elf females with a single hapless human male dragged along with them?

Strategy of War is a little different in that it's not a CCG, you aren't required to buy $200 worth of packs per month to stay competitive. They actually planned on it being a CCG but responded to the feedback by switching to the current everythign-included model. Also the rules appear to be quite different.

To each his own though.
