Add to that, their voices can have some sort of 'alien' quality (like a double-voice, or some sort of timbre not found with humans).
I don't think their vocal cords are any different from human ones.

It's gratifying to know that my inadvertent imaginings were actually on the money. Spiral and Talon particularly have the manner of speech one tends to associate with Eastern European/Russian speakers.

How do you make a verb into a noun in trade?

Write to Writer for example.

Is it that you add -en to words that end in consonants and -di to words that end in vowels?

In most cases you put -adi on the end, truncating the existing vowel if it's an A or an I.

So "write" (sonni) would become "writer" (sonnadi).

I just realized something: do we know what is on the other side of Arekka space? Does Historian space wrap around Arekka territory and make contact with the Nissek border?

Arekka space is right on the edge of the Local Bubble, past which the density of molecular clouds and star-forming regions makes jump travel dangerous. Most people assume there is nothing there, but they generally don't travel past Arekka territory.

Does this mean the Mannadi are the 'rescuers' or the 'ones who shine'? Or is the '-adi' ending for them coincidence?

Yes, the name "Mannadi" means "rescuers."

The origin of the name is lost to history, but it probably originated with Neridi contact. The Mannadi have a different name for themselves that is in their own language.

I've been having trouble finding information on the Loroi worlds.

For example, what the gravity and atmosphere are like on Deinar.

Do you mean the sort of information in the link below, or were you looking for something more like data tables or "fact sheets"?

I don't have exhaustive information on all the Loroi worlds, especially for those we'll never visit in the story.

The unofficial information I have for Deinar III in my notes is as follows:
Rotation period: 19.88 hours
Equatorial surface gravity: 9.216 m/s², ~= 0.94g
The atmosphere is slightly colder and thinner than Earth's. The orbital period is very close to 1 Earth year.

Which means about 440 Deinar tibos in one Deinar tozon (as there are 440.937 Deinar tibos in one Terra tozon.)

Are you willing to take suggestions? Like approving of possible fan stories or RP constructions För thease worlds?

I'm not sure I really want to be put in the position of having to approve or reject fan submissions.

Do you have an idea of what the moons of Deinar look like? Their sizes, orbital periods etc...

Would you be willing to post your notes somewhere, even if they aren't complete?

White wrote:Do you have an idea of what the moons of Deinar look like? Their sizes, orbital periods etc...
The outer moon (Talas) is about one-fifth the mass of our Moon, and has an orbital period (according to the notes) of 241.92 hours (10.08 Earth days). This period is the basis for the nanapi or "transit." The inner moon (Mepona) is much smaller and is part of a faint ring; its orbital period is probably in the neighborhood of 12 hours. Both of them are typical in appearance for small rocky moons: gray and crater-pocked. Mepona is small enough that it's not perfectly spherical. Mepona's ring is only visible to the naked eye when the conditions are just right (such as when it is backlit against a dark night sky).

It's not all in one place that is easily postable, but is spread across multiple hundred-plus page documents. And no, the 788-page main notes document is not suitable for public consumption. :D

You have to keep something in reserve for when you write/draw the "Background Guide to the Loroi Union", don't you? ;)
