Replying to PM

This may be an ID 10 T error but...

I've replied to a PM and it says that it is sent, but the message is sitting in the Outbox, not the Sent Folder. Can't see an obvious 'send'. Has the message been sent or am I doing something wrong (again)?

I forwarded a test message to myself, and as you reported it got stuck in the Outbox. But then every subsequent test I did was sent normally. I'm not sure what the deal is. All you should need to do is click Submit.

I suggest opening the message in the Inbox, click Forward, then manually type in the recipient and click Add, then click Submit.

If that works, then you can delete the message stuck in the Outbox. I don't see any way to move it.

The deal is, it remains in the outbox until it is read by the recipient.
The system will move it once it has been read.
(This is basically a "read" notification)
At least all phpBB boards I otherwise use treat it that way.

So, your message has not been read yet.

Edit to add:
BTW: from the support boards:
https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=841175

So, this is a wanted behaviour of the message system.
And to correct myself above:
the message only gets moved when the recipient opens his inbox. The move does not mean it has been read, just that the recipient has opened his inbox, and thus has seen he has received a PM.

That's not the behavior I observed during my testing. I forwarded a message to myself, and it never arrived in my inbox, but stayed in my outbox. All subsequent tests arrived immediately in my inbox, and were never in my outbox.

Didn't work for a day or so, then all the messages suddenly went at once.

may be an issue with forwarding, that it works differently than normal sending.
