Please keep it in universe, fred. :ugeek:
Funny thing on the Nibiren/Farmer since they're described as a hunter-gatherer culture.
Did you literaly mean "loper" for the golim? Coming from the word "lope"? Bit of a problem at my end finding an exact translation since it means "runner" in Dutch.

The Loroi call them 'farmers' because that's what they use them for. Barsam missionaries taught basic agricultural techniques to some of the tribes, but the Nibiren homeworld is currently a Loroi colony, and farm labor is the only thing the Loroi find the Nibiren "useful" for.

It means the same thing in English: to run with a long, bounding stride.

Just out of curiosity, May I ask how the motto "Fearless and faithful* " translates into trade?

*= as in loyal.

That sounds more harsh than I had expected, but fits very well somehow. Thanks!

I updated the Loroi Trade Lexicon; it now has 50% more entries.

The process of trying to export it from Excel into HTML format really pissed me off, so there may be some errors or missing words from the previous list. The old version of the page is still available at: http://well-of-souls.com/outsider/loroi ... n_old.html If you notice a discrepancy, please let me know.

Have you ever considered uploading it as a Google Doc? The process of webpagifying it would proly go faster if more than one person worked at it. :)

The time-consuming part of exporting the lexicon is manually culling it down from some 3400 entries to the "official" list that's now 700 or so, and that's something that can't be delegated. The irritating thing about it was trying to get Excel to convert the culled list it to HTML in a manner than wasn't completely stupid. What I got this time around is acceptable, but the HTML is like twice the size is should be, with tons of meaningless <class> parameters.

And the Excel file is a compound document that's got all kinds of stuff in there that's not fit for public consumption. ;)

You should create a second (or even third) column on that page!

About the Excel file conversion. The HTML looks great and is browser friendly; but I'm actually OK with downloading an excel or CSV file if it would save you some frustration.

Peace out :)

What's wrong with the other 2700 entries?

And why not cut n' paste the wordlist &c into another Excel file? :3

What is the Loroi word for "tap (e.g. a barrel of beer; a maple tree)" and the Umiak word for "un-tap (same)"? Because in line with the old tilted-T tap symbol, I'd like to do a "tilted Trade T" tap symbol and a "tilted Umiak 'untap'" untap symbol for an Outsider-themed MTG set :3

The literal meaning of "tap" would be an odd translation for the MTG action of "tap". You might consider pinno "consume, deplete," and pozoli "refill, restore."

I don't have an Umiak lexicon, sorry.

Hmm... they can't both be tilted Ps, that'd be too confusing. I might do tilted-L (lashri "deactivate") for "tap" and tilted-P (piio "charge") for "untap".

Trade doesn't have a word for mana, so you could either just use the word "mana," or perhaps manzatrin which means "sorcery."

Image (subject) any two mana using or Image using can be paid. this card changed mana cost (subject) 10 seems to be.

Image me tanas zilo (mana) neimod nin Image neimod tilleit bederi. Sopis biisten porrila (mana) dazar me ZP tizatli.
