Image Size: 90 KB, 1024 x 768 pixels
Media: Adobe Photoshop 7
Date: 4/12/07 Some
friends were drawing personifications of spacecraft. This is meant to
be a personification of the Kadesh
mothership from Homeworld. Drawn and colored entirely in Photoshop.

An archaic Loroi hero depicted in a style meant to look like mosaic or
tapestry. Drawn and colored entirely in Photoshop.

Demonseed (website
illustration)
Image Size: 73 KB, 478 x 731 pixels
Media: Micron Pigma pens, Adobe Photoshop 5
Date: 9/16/02 Commissioned
website illustration for Elysia Jane's Demon-seed.org.
And yes, that's a horny sperm in the girl's lap. It's the site mascot,
a "demon
seed," get it?

Unfriendly
Act (Outsider)
Image Size: 124 KB, 605 x 905 pixels Media:
Micron Pens, Photoshop 6, Lightwave 6.5 Date:

This piece is for the cover for
Chapter 1 of Outsider,
but this version is without the title text. . |

Phoenix (Strings of Fate)
Image Size: 118 KB, 679 x 822 pixels
Media: pen, Photoshop 5, Painter 5.5
Date: 6/22/01
This is a character from Jen "Tochi" Wang's webcomic Strings
of Fate. This is really just a reinterpretation of a piece Tochi did. Several people have pointed out how much she came out looking like
an Ah! My Goddess! character; it's funny that it didn't occur to me while I was doing it.

See You Space Cowboy... (Cowboy Bebop)
Image Size: 113 KB, 707 x 574 pixels
Media: Micron Pigma pens, Adobe Photoshop 5
Date: 11/14/00 One of the highlights of Bandai's stylish Cowboy Bebop
is, of course, bad-girl sexpot Faye Valentine. The background was originally done in Painter (she's supposed to be reclining on the couch in the
Bebop's main lounge), but it looked terrible and I was out of time, so I blurred the heck out of it and covered it up with lots of pretentious text. . |

Painted Desert Image Size:
126 KB, 631 x 1107 pixels Media: Micron
pens, Photoshop 5, Painter 5.5 Date:
8/13/01
Started as a homage to the
music of Pat Benatar, this came out a sort of tribute to 80's style
in general. The figure is inspired by an old black and white
Tropico poster that hangs in my studio, with a touch of Patrick Nagel tossed in for
good measure. . |

Mucha Angel (Christmas
card) Image Size: 170 KB, 621 x 809
pixels Media: Micron Pigma pens, Adobe
Photoshop 5 Date: 12/04/00
2000's Christmas card. The goal here was something inspired by Art Nouveau
poster boy Alphonse Mucha. Personally, I'm proud of the hands (which I had to redraw about
seven times). . |

Bad Alice! (American McGee's Alice)
Image Size: 116 KB, 554 x 733 pixels
Media: Micron Pigma pens, Adobe Photoshop 5
Date: 7/30/00 A
fanart for the computer game American
McGee's Alice. A somewhat different take on Lewis
Carroll's famous writings, American's version has an older, knife-wielding,
gothic Alice returning to a decaying and sinister Wonderland to mete
out her final vengeance against the Red Queen. This piece
was actually used in a Gamestop/Funcoland
ad in the November 2000 issue of PCGamer, without my permission. . |

Sith Witch (Star Wars)
Image Size: 136 KB, 549 x 722 pixels
Media: Micron Pigma pens, Adobe Photoshop 5
Date: 5/00 This
is my take on a design of a "Sith Witch" in the Art of
Star Wars Episode I book by Iain McCaig. It was interesting
to learn that lightsabers are actually white, with a colored glow.

On what basis then do I believe in myself? (Ghost in the Shell)
Image Size: 52 KB, 528 x 699 pixels
Media: pencil, Adobe Photoshop 5
Date: 11/22/00 A
recolor of an older Motoko Kusanagi pic I did
in June of 1998.
Although this is the version of Motoko from the manga, I tried to give her the impression of the more contemplative movie version.

huh?
(CD cover)
Image Size: 100 KB, 640 x 640 pixels
Media: Micron Pigma pens, Adobe Photoshop 5
Date: 5/00 This
is my CD cover design for The huh? Album, an independent rap
& hip-hop compilation from local Santa Cruz label Bottom
of the Ninth Entertainment. The instruction was for the character
to look "confused," but she mainly just looks pouty. The
belt-line of her jeans also looks a bit odd, because of a late request
by the client to button her jeans (click here
to see the early version, in all its unbuttoned glory). The background
sucks, however.

Death in the Home (Sandman)
Image Size: 147 KB, 638 x 877 pixels
Media: Pen and Ink, Watercolor
Date: 12/97Those of us who've read DC's Sandman and Books of Magic know
that Death is a punky British girl. This was a Christmas gift for my pal Barbana, Empress of the Cosmos,
who has the original.

Lady
Aedin (Harg the Pirate) Image
Size: 73 KB, 637 x 808
pixels Media: Pencil, Photocopy,
Watercolor Date: 1996
This was my way of doing a quick color
piece before I discovered scanners and
Photoshop: watercolors on a photocopy on heavy stock. I
used to spend a lot of time at Kinko's. |
