Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

eve is awesome, and nice ship DD, but this is still just the modern day 'modular', take ship with swap out parts...sure it works, but i still say total modularity is better for space.

Re: Chapter 2 cover

you do not want to know....because if you do it means you are there to see it happen, and it is unlikely you survive the experience....which is lucky for those that do.

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

trantor: it's probably because it reminds him of a iconic starwars ship, http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tantive_IV
not all THAT similar, but still.

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

DD: well, you can do a wire frame 'hull' to build on and provide structural integrity....but i am personally inclined to the lego approach, just make the 'connectors'(basically airlocks with wiring/ventilation involved, just make'em standard, so everything is routed through it, actually that also cr...

Re: Chapter 2 cover

geek: actually we do not have the full mission brief on hand, and IF the captain had such status, then by virtue of the chain of command, depending on how the TCA charter is written and such, he just might have it for reals.... which some(about 80% of'em) will go ballistic about a ensign holding the...

geek: actually she does not have that authority to grant plenipotentiary status to alex, only his own government could do that, she however can RECOGNIZE his status as a diplomat, there is a difference.

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

DD: in space you could actually get away with TOTAL modularity...make standard sized boxes, lets say 10x10x20m in size, with 'connectors' on all six sides, and start playing lego. all modules are for 'something' just add boxes as you wish....when you think about it, that makes umiak varied ship desi...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

DD: you are missing the engineering parts, engine/power plant/computer support/sensors which are every bit as important to change in this case....basically creating a wire frame with hard points and volume set aside for different things.

Re: Warhammer 40,000

40k vs SW....technologically they are both a mess, although i have been working in trying to fix some of the SW mess for RPG purposes....but that is beside the point... the big difference is social, SW is a melting pot of thousands of different cultures, and 40k is just....insane....although the war...

trantor: never said martial arts had NO value, just almost no military value, there is a difference.

and the biggest value old school marital arts has in a military scenario is discipline, focus and physical conditioning.

<edit>
oops, was not directed at me....my bad trantor.

Re: Page 90

nemo: balance and falling techniques are probably the most useful things any martial arts class ever taught, those things save lives(or at least pain injury and indignity) on a regular basis, but it is mostly negative values so no one notices it. and yes, most 'martial arts' have pretty much left th...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

javcs: in absolute performance, i'd say about 15% using the same technology, but given the ease of re using older parts and re fitting older ships, i'd say around 25% cheaper to run....and would more easily and faster to keep pace with technology advancement....so for humans early post-loroi interve...

Re: Page 90

on 'absolute rest frame' if C truly is a constant, and the fastest possible velocity in a given direction is C, then by definition you HAVE a absolute rest frame, at absolutely zero velocity....but since physics guys keep saying that it's a matter of perspective....can you out accelerate a photon by...

razor: E=mc2(yeah i know, can't be arsed figuring out how to do a squared 2) tells us that objects in motion have more energy, therefor a increase in energy without a increase in speed should be a increase in mass...these are still pretty small value changes though. and something that always bothere...

Re: Couple questions

moon: the unpredictable variance rises with nearby mass, so where there are lots of stars, or even worse, nebula....it gets unpredictable fast....probably some sort of mass/energy drawn to the curved space of gravity, and we can't see it since it is in another dimension. do note this is just guesses...
