Well would it be safer to ally with the Loroi since they have a tendency to exterminate their enemies, while the Umiak had a history of subjugating? It seems better to be a prisoners under Umiak occupation rather than under Loroi dominion.
Oh well, more ascots next month I suppose ?

Re: Couple questions
Just read that excerpt from Adam Smith, it deals with wage suppression irrespective to supply. It's all about the power to allocate economic rent, not supply. You're idea that there are too many workers is Malthusian, just play around with the http://www.bls.gov/ and see how growth in the economy wi...

Re: Couple questions
I can only think of two explanations of this divergence from the average value of worker output from the average compensation. The first one I prefer because it is just funny and wonky (not because it is a correct explanation). Wages are determined by supply and demand like many other things, and i...

Re: The Current State of Human Technology
Based upon the theme that I believe Arioch is writing into this story, our technology will not be more advanced but we will have things neither the Hierarchy nor the Imperium have ever seen before and will desperately want. These technological innovations will stem from our democratic society and f...

This...actually makes a lot of sense. I reackon with acess to alien tech (Orgus) humanity got a boost in it's technology, but I doubt the scouts themselves got any upgrades. Scouts are by defintion expendable. No reason to spend resources on it. In what sense are scouts expendable? I mean if you ar...

Re: Couple questions
Economics works similarly to many other academic disciplines. Find a problem or phenomenon -> Reason out an explanation -> Gather data to support model or theory. (The discipline itself fixates heavily on deductive reasoning, which has its own implications). Though, Cy83r probably meant "how does an...
