Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

This is one of my gripes with the setting of W40k as it stands. I am of the school of thought that despair needs hope in order to reach its true depths. With constant stagnation and decay it inevitably becomes boring without any true stakes for the story. 'Yay today's' bad was vanquished but we all...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

For what it's worth, I'm genuinely impressed with how GW has been (mostly) handling reintroducing Guilliman to the decayed Imperium. He's got more 'authority' than anyone else alive, sure, but the sheer *inertia* of the Imperium has thus far in the fluff been too much even for the human Excel sprea...

No, I mean that Guilliman was properly adopted and raised by a family when he landed on Macragge. Granted they were local royalty but they raised him as their own son and taught him properly.
I know ;)

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

Plenty of stretch, a lot of it recent as well, like how a Tech Priest 'improved' on Space Marines on his own. How a group of unknowns managed to get to Guilliman's sarcophagus on Ultramar, arguably the second most defended location of the Imperium after the Imperial Palace's Throne Room. How Failba...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

Arriving on Terra was perhaps too much of a stretch, but half the WH40 canon is a stretch, so why not. Anyway, I think that Girly-Man will look at Alex with pity, an entire xeno-elf-harem is way too much trouble. Even a single of 'em is enough to drive you crazy . But I'm looking forward to Yvraine'...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

Okay, out of all the possible "low-to-middle-range" daemons, a Bloodletter is perhaps the most convenient one. It is a most vicious, but very straightforward adversary. Just imagine if the tiny cracks in the walls would start spilling Nurglings instead. Lots of Nurglings. You want fun? Imagine the s...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

So this Aeldari sect created several strands of creatures? I suppose it's not as easy as the "normal" Loroi and farseeing Loroi. And stumbling into the Webway is certainly fun. You might find untold riches, lost artifacts, entire civilizations. Or they find you. I wonder how Fireblade will fare as a...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

The most ironic thing is that out of the major factions, meeting the xenophobic Imperium is probably the best least bad option for a fledgling xeno empire. Especially if the first contact is done through a Rogue Trader. I mean, the Warp may simply drop a rock space-hulk on your head. Full of greensk...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

So the Loroi wish to be neutral? A very wise choice... ...which they don't have. As any other faction in WH40 universe. And since Chaos already knows where the Union is, Alex isn't their prisoner. He's their only hope. That's the deal he should offer. Whatever plans the Prince behind this conflict h...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

So Fireblade got herself the honor of an extra gate and even a paved road? Nice.

And while the Inquisition would not approve of such conduct, the Rogue Traders do not care. There's a reason why they are called rogue, after all.

Hand-signs? Poor, sweet, innocent Beryl.

For reasons of strong corporate dislike, I don't use Patreon and don't plan to change that, so I don't have access to those pages.
SpoilerShow
Fair point, and I have to agree.
SpoilerShow
Especially since Patreon didn't seem to have any positive effect on this comic's update frequency.
SpoilerShow
Maybe even the opposite?

Okay, it finally became properly Loroi-ish ;)

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

Yup, it was intentional. An experiment to see if I can 'parallel' canon for a few chapters, only fully writing those scenes that differ noticeably from their canon equivalent. Well, it wasn't that bad, my only issue was that the jumps weren't smoothed over. You simply did a hyper-jump from one sequ...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

And it /did/ kinda work out... mostly thanks to Fireblade, but still. Well, Cain had his most loyal adjutant, Ferik Jurgen, who also happened to be a psi-blank. Fireblade would be even better, since she has a built-in melta. And better body odor. Anyway, I gotta ask, was this writing style intentio...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

Just a small issue, there are perhaps too many recaps for my liking. They stick out and disrupt the story's flow. Tell all you want about Fireblade; few would go into hand to hand combat with a Daemon even in a dream. Those few being spacemarines, adepta sororitas or irate guardsmen from particularl...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

Suffering is suffering and we don't know enough about the deal with the daemon to say for sure; for all we know they tithed a few hundred thousands of each slave race, put them all on a planet which allows for more warp shenanigans than average and then had them do an interspecies murder orgy. As f...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

Stillstorm was perhaps too quick to trust that strange alien's assessment, and fire the BFG, but otherwise, it's very good. Anyway, a suddenly awakened psyker, which burns brighter than the sun? Yeah, that's a perfect introduction for a WH40 novel. I, for one, would welcome our new daemon-prince ove...

Re: [Crossover Fanfiction] Specialists

Okay, I have to admit, this is far better than I thought it would be. The ejection, and the "language database download" might be a stretch, but a crossover is always going to be a stretch. Anyway, it's quite hilarious how Alex tries to be "polite" with the xenos, but comes off as very rude. Just on...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Notes and discussion for "A sword that wields itself"

Even if the Loroi Warlord agrees to the diplomats' demands, whether that be peaceful cooperation with the Sacred City or being transferred to a new home, surely the humans and Emberwing, and especially Tempo must be aware there is a risk that the barbarian hordes and their Warlord might pull a 'Ger...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

TL;DR: If Alex had to communicate a relatively simple concept to a loroi via hand-gestures/charades (E.g. "There are two armed soldiers in that room" or "Don't press that button; the ship will explode") to a loroi, what are the odds that she would understand his meaning? The Loroi do have hand gest...
