Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
How about a large terrestrial soft shelled crab as a draft animal? Maybe they do something funky to keep the claws from growing too large.

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
We know what loroi smell like to humans.
What do humans smell like to loroi, equivalently?
Inquiring minds need to know.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
And in particular, biologists looking at the Loroi genome are going to be very confused. Would Loroi DNA contain 'artificial' nucleotide bases like P, B, Z and S from Hachimoji DNA, on top of the usual A,T,G,C ? Check page 165, I left a summary of possibilities for "Real Life" examples. I think Ari...

While it is true that Dyson spheres/swarms on their own are not particularly useful to a civilization that has no need to use all of it, the idea that I've heard often is that this Dyson swarm would be built out of O'Neill cylinders, creating millions of citystates and micronations in almost infinit...

Imagine a Movie so bad that a non-controversial and telegraphed kissu is the high point of the film. If you had asked me 5 years ago, I would have never believed it could be worse then the prequels, and that's before i watched the plinkett reviews.

I'm more interested in what fun music and videos are on the local storage that Alex can show the Loroi (Beryl specifically) to quench their curiosity about human culture, if they have any.

*snip* As a Bioinformaticist I believe i have some information I can share about this, though it should be noted I have a bachelors degree and am in no means a professor of genetics and genetic chemistry, i have had classes in which this topic came up and were discussed with my professor. The offic...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
I've long grown tired of the lewd lobby trying to frame every possible panel in a romantic or even sexual way, even if we're seeing a soldier making a joke about butts and farting on pillows. Alex won't gravitate to any of the Loroi, he's just been warned by the Historian about them and he's probab...

I'm going to presume that the most nutritiously valuable food for Alex will end up being the Loroi equivalent to Mustard or Ketchup.
Either that or some kind of tuber that the loroi consider highly toxic.

They are overconfident, not because they are bad or incompetent, but because they outmatch the enemy so completely that they can move at a faster pace. You still see them flank enemy positions within seconds of them being revealed. They use smoke grenades for cover, etcetera. An ogryn in power armor...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I don't think Loroi music has the same roots in storytelling, and so I don't think they are quite as plugged in emotionally to certain musical cues the way that we are. Are you implying that they would for example, feel an emotional connection to marches or "wardrums", and not so much about your av...

Re: Adeptus Astartes Episode 2
Going by what I know of Warhammer 40k lore, It seems accurate that the Space Marine wasn't instantly gibbed by the multilaser. However, I would expect to see that particular Marine retreat afterwards. If his armor was "merely" ordinary Space Marine armor, then I would expect that he's taken wounds n...

Re: Writing Prompts
While I do think Loroi would "get" movie genres like horror more easily, don't forget that what we think of as "horror" is a very human perspective. For example, the Loroi may find it unwatchable because of unforseen reasons, like the whole "one male/female goes into the basement alone" trope, which...

Re: Pages 144, 145: Conserve Energy
I think you are putting way too much thought into this. And you are way too romantic about it too. In my opinion, it's clearly the common "Warrior male meets independent woman" trope played out in reverse, and not much more. In her eyes, Alex is a "male" who claims to be a warrior, isn't quickly bul...

Depending on from which language you interpret, it either means "See the finch, a son of the raven, patron saint of the soldier." in both germanic and hewbrew or "The finch who perceives all, the patron saint of the soldier" in hebrew only, with a spelling correction to my first name. It shouldn't b...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
I don't know how this question hasn't been asked before (unless the search bar decieves me) so here we go: What is the energy throughput of the Mjolnir Particle Beam Cannon? How does it stack up when compared to a Loroi Particle Beam? Would it be able to damage a combatant from either the loroi or u...

I definately think that Loroi are more attractive to humans then humans are to Loroi.
It'd only make sense, we "miss" something extremely important for social development purposes, from their perspective. From our perspective, they are just aloof, telepathic space amazon elves.
