Re: [RP] Operation: Deep Strike (OOC)

hi hi Here's some of the hard details about the system you all will have just jumped into at the start of the game: http://knhauber.phpwebhosting.com/scraps/deepstrike_system.jpg ((Not to Scale)) Technical Designation: TLRSS-J15426.U00342 K6V Orange Main Sequence Mass: .65 Sol Luminosity: .36 Sol In...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

hi hi

I have a feeling that the damage is much worse on the inside than it is on the outside, given plasma's tendency to expand. Hopefully there will still be some survivors that can be rescued before the ship needs to be scuttled. (At least thats what I am guessing will happen.)

Ok, I think I see where I messed up, stupid conversion errors. This makes more sense.

Re: [RP] Operation: Deep Strike (OOC)

hi hi

I am not talking about traveling between stars, I'm talking about traveling around inside of a star system. From what I gather, FTL travel is pretty much instant. However, you need to traverse each system you jump to in normal space before you can move to the next.

Re: [RP] Operation: Deep Strike (OOC)

hi hi I ran into a bit of a snag while plotting things out, maybe one of you can help me with this. According to insider, human ships have an acceleration of about 4-6Gs, but it also says that traversing a star system takes several days to a week. Unless my math is way off, this doesn't add up. At 6...

Re: [RP] Operation: Deep Strike (OOC)

hi hi I had hoped to get the first in character post ready by tonight, but some stuff came up and I lost some time, with any luck I can recover that lost time tomorrow. I apologize that this has taken so long, but I just wanted everyone to know that I am still working on it. I'm currently fleshing o...

Re: page 83

hi hi

For the Loroi, who are not accustomed to tact, etiquette or not speaking one's mind, I imagine that many verbal formalities might actually be more unsettling than that sort of banter.

Re: page 83

hi hi I get the impression that Ashrain used those blisters at a very opportune time, and that in other instances they're maybe not as effective. (and out of the four of them, they apparently only took out two Umiak ships.) I also take the profligacy remark to mean that Moonglow had some of her own ...

Re: page 83

hi hi I seems that once everyloroi knew that the immediate danger was past, they didn't feel it necessary to maintain strict radio protocol anymore. Of course, Stillstorm said that this wasn't the Umaik's main force which leads me to something of a realization about a possible Umiak tactic. Since a ...

Re: [RP] Operation: Deep Strike (OOC)

hi hi

I haven't heard back from some people, and since people wanted a structured game with rolls and such, I can't really play it quite as fast and loose. So can I get a quick role call? Who all actually still wants to go with this?

Well, Stillstorm did say to "reserve nothing," so if she held onto them, she'd be disobeying orders I guess.

hi hi Most anticipated space game that would crush me if it turns into vaporware: Infinity: The Quest for Earth Ever since I saw their procedural galaxy generator Or their procedural cityscapes . Or their seamless transition from space to planetside . (skip to about 5:45 for entry) I never played fr...

Re: [RP] Operation: Deep Strike (OOC)

hi hi I purposefully tried to leave the exact time and place vague so that it would have some flexibility, but it is supposed to be shortly after the Bellarmine incident. Short being a relative term I guess. I've been trying to not get too fussy about the details of everyone's past because I intend ...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

hi hi Friction is the force resisting the relative motion of solid surfaces, fluid layers and/or material elements sliding against each other. Friction converts kinetic energy into heat. So while friction itself is not heat, when you have friction, you necessarily have heat as well. Edit: I did some...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

hi hi Railguns have friction and heat, and even if they didn't have rail to projectile friction, they would then have arcing, which would vaporize things. The rails and projectiles must be built from strong conductive materials; the rails need to survive the violence of an accelerating projectile, a...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

hi hi Ad Hominim, classy. ;) You would need more than 20 billion railguns because of one thing: waste heat. Firing a projectile at 10%c is a whole different story than firing a bullet a thousand miles per hour. Last I checked, metal storm holds the fastest fire rate on a gun via technicality, and ev...

hi hi

50 million ships.... ((not counting cool-down times))

How it works is actually kind of important. It is the whole reason humans aren't using blasters or plasma foci.
