Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror
Good chapter so far (though to be fair, it's all been a good read), though I'd nitpick a little in that it's probably important to mention one or two of the outliers to the vast majority of traditionally male warriors, such as Boudicca, Grace O'Malley, Joan of Arc etc., though that's only a nitpick...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror
Has a little problem with the second half of chapter 9. I pondered if I should split it in three parts or do what I did above to conserve space and save some time :P. Now begins the part that I really look forward to and dread writing  And we look forward to reading it. This is good stuff.

Re: The importance of skill in ever more advanced wars.
The ultimate in nearly impossible to topple autharian regimes I have encountered was in a sci fi roleplaying game. A whole planet whose population was equipped with explosive collars. Topple the government and everybody dies. Since nobody wanted to be responsible for killing a planetful of people, n...

Re: The importance of skill in ever more advanced wars.
The chances of IS acquiring nukes are slim and if they do, chances are they have a rotten delivery system for it. I mentioned them as a current era example of a regime run by fanatics. A century from now however, stuff that are exidingly hard to aquire may be disturbingly common. And nukes are reall...

Re: The importance of skill in ever more advanced wars.
Fanatism can beat economic models. Most of us have by now heard of the Islamic state and it's behaviour of horrific executions for things most people agree on isn't even crimes. A regime that behave like that, not on religoues grounds but economical can in essence outlaw inflation. They can "print"...

Re: The importance of skill in ever more advanced wars.
EDIT2: So in essence in order to replace a modern US marine you have to provide a robot that can everything a US marine does with a lower initial cost and lower yearly maintenance. To completely make soldiers obsolete you have to be able to cheaply and effectively replace conscripts. I think a gove...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
Did you ever consider having each Earthly nation, or at least the biggest ones, have their own space fleets? It would have been cool to see how differently the US, the UK, and China would have built their ships. :D A way to do this would be in the form of a joint banner (TCA). I long wounded why, i...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I guess that this is more or less one of those questions that can be answered with a yes or no while I supply a theory. Pointy ears, why does the loroi have them? Well it is my understanding that the Soia at some point investigated life on earth and cracked the code for how DNA works. Armed with thi...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror
I was mostly surprised about how FAST she grew new limbs, not that it could be done. A possibility thou if this seem to be TO fast. It is possible that the loroi as a "constructed" species indeed have little to no rejection problems and if so, several replacement limbs could already be pregrown, onc...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror
I got it that Shadowcloud was severely wounded, missing LIMBS just shortly before the meeting. That was a fast recovery. Unless she haven't been able to grow new limbs in an hour or so and was just treated for her burnwounds. Lost limbs in an earlier engagement and now using advanced prosthetics may...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror
Keep in mind that Silverspear is a warship on a combat mission and a destroyer at that. As such it is a somewhat small warship so to expect that they even have an diplomatic officer onboard is a bit much to ask. A large percentage of the crew is dead and judging from the captains condition, many of ...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror
This reminds me of how in the original story Alex was about to teach Beryl an human language in "a few moments". So far into that story they have not been able to start doing that but I suspect that the loroi will relay heavily on telepathic scanning when learning a new language this way. That will ...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror
Hello there, i'm looking for fun projects that can help me sharpen my writing skills and was wondering if you would be willing to have me as your editor. I appreciate the offer but this project is my personal exercise in writing and self editing a novella/novel sized story. I know that certain part...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Classic good cop bad cop. Beryl is the good cop, Fireblade is the bad cop. There truly is nothing new in the universe. :P Wait a minute, if Beryl is the good cop, and Fireblade the bad cop. Then who is Tempo? Their boss, standing outside looking thru the one way window directing the show. And this ...

Re: Page 104 discussion.
Just wondering if Tempo's show-up was part of the comic outline all along, or a recent change in the script. I doubt it was a change. I guess Tempo masterminded her own exile from Tempest as soon as she got a report of what Alex looked like. She is an intelligence office, skilled in wrang...

Re: Page 104 discussion.
Now I wonder if everyone been close with Alex is sended with othe ship. Or processed other way. The background fluff have info about Talon (former fighter pilot) turned shuttle pilot so I guess she will be flying them. Also Ashrain is the only ship commander beside Stillstorm that are mentioned the...

Of course it is the shoegirl, the true force behind what is happening here. All hail the shoegirl!Suederwind wrote:Page 104? Didn't see that one coming so soon. What a nice surprise!
Aside from that, Beryl maybe told him a bit too much.
Is that Shoegirl behind Tempo in panel 5?

Re: Page 104 discussion.
Cool kids sit in the back of the bus... look where the security team choose to sit. But really by sitting in the back the have a field of view that covers everyone else in the shuttle and both entrances plus pilot area. Precisely and look how Fireblade points with her arm. She orders them where to ...
