Re: Page 151 Discussion: "We will wait, Outsider"
Social rewards and pressures are enough to get people to copulate. Many homosexuals had and still have families and biological offspring for those (and more) reasons afterall. Loroi, as a species which are usually practical to a fault, would strike me as the first people who would simply do away wi...

Re: Page 151 Discussion: "We will wait, Outsider"
I could even take Beryl for her word and believe that Loroi have sex primarily for reproductive purposes. Primarily being the operative word. Which in turn means that they do know of recreational sex, which is underlined by the "Insider" tidbit that some times Loroi females do fondly remember the t...

Re: Page 151 Discussion: "We will wait, Outsider"
Does it have to end up being about love? The Loroi don't have it the same way we do. Biologically and sociologically not. I think expecting them to conform to human notions is doing them a disservice and can only disappoint. No one said anything about love. For now, what drives both Talon and Beryl...

Re: Page 151 Discussion: "We will wait, Outsider"
I can't deny they have great chemistry. I tend to disagree. Just because they do have some similarities doesn't necessarily mean they find some common ground. Much like there's no place for two alpha personalities in any situation. As said, Alex made his opinion about her abundantly clear, and she ...

Re: Page 151 Discussion: "We will wait, Outsider"
Alex made his opinions about Fireblade (and to a lesser extent, Beryl) pretty much clear - the less he sees of Fireblade, the better it is. Or so he thinks. I wouldn't put it past him that he keeps his ability to sense her under the wraps until someone else notices something, just because he doesn't...

Re: Page 151 Discussion: "We will wait, Outsider"
Welp, this is about the second time Beryl got physical to separate Talon and Alex. The fiirst time? http://www.well-of-souls.com/outsider/outsider117.html - "I will demonstrate!" :) - notice the "wtf?" expressions on Talon's face. Both times. I see a trend. And Beryl's words that the suit requires s...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Note that he still wears the same shirt under his overall. If that is because he didn't change outfits, I think he's grumpy because neither Beryl nor Talon are incliined to give him a bit of privacy.

Re: [WP] Not alien aliens
Alex woke up after a bout of fitful sleep, trying to get his bearings. The situation looked unchanged. The shuttle is still powered down to its barest essentials, and even with the thermal lining it got rather uncomfortably cold, way beyond the usual chilly he came to associate with Loroi environme...

[WP] Not alien aliens
They are not alien aliens. This was both an invigorating and sobering thought, all rolled into one. Were the Loroi as different as the Orgus or - gods beware - the Umiak, blunders and misunderstandings could easily be dismissed because of racial and cultural differences, but as it is now, he could ...

Re: Page 150 Discussion "Well, I haven't !"
Gotta love Loroi bluntness. Well, it doesn't make things any easier to Alex. As far as he knows about Loroi culture - which is close to nothing at all - saying 'no' to a female could be a grave insult and/or a capital offense. Couple that with the fact that he does know that they don't hestitate to ...

Re: Page 150 Discussion "Well, I haven't !"
Just think, ER teams do cut you out of your clothing when you've been rolled into an emergency room after an accident. It's much easier and faster than trying to disrobe an unconscious person. And in a situation like this, where every second counds... Just to remind you, he was severely hurt and jus...

Re: Page 150 Discussion "Well, I haven't !"
They're foreign to the concept of modesty, at least.
Well, it's Alex's turn now. Will he go through a lengthy explanation, though Beryl's admission pretty much voids at least half of the argument ... or will he man up, choke down his embarrassment and not be a spoilsport to Talon?

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Perhaps, at some point, either Alex or Beryl might comment on the fact that his old jumpsuit could be getting a bit ripe. And they actually found a spare thermal suit that more or less fits him. And then Talon shows up right in the moment of him changing clothes. And getting an eyeful. Of course Ber...

Re: [WP] Beacons (Story Thread Only)
"You do know that patience might not be a warrior's strong suit?" Wavecrest injected with a doubtful voice, "And you're banking on quite a number of 'what-if'." At least she's considering the option , Alex realized, It may need just a little bit more to drive home the point. "Let's take Tempest 's ...

Re: Writing Prompts
Would the Loroi understand those movies well without knowledge of human culture? Aliens seems like an ideal movie to get the Loroi started as the horror is based on primal biology. Sure there are movie references (or references in the movies) which do need a lot of cultural background to understand...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Collaborateurs and traitors are a thing in many, maybe in all wars. And Tempo herself implied that the member races do have their own agenda and would use Alex for their own benefit, rather than the Union at a whole. So yes, Tempo's suspicions about treachery - whether they're based on fact or not -...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
From the look of things, gravity in the shuttle seems restored. At least, both Tempo and Fireblade seem to be walking rather then floating in zero-gravity. Second to last panel of 143, Tempo's pose suggests that they're still floating. Most likely retaining an upright position relative to the "up" ...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
To clear up a few things now: First, Kikitik-27 most likely had seen Alex on the Tempest 's bridge during the banter between it (him?) and Stillstorm unless the camera angle was quite narrow and Alex remained out of view. But still, the Umiak have to assume that SG51 picked up something valuable fro...
