For some reason, being raised in a lush world filled with deadly, yet deceptively beautiful lifeforms fits Tempo to

Heathen barbarians, the lot of you! Mmm.... licorice. You show me a picture of that.... blasphemious stuff? Ven though there's not much liquorice in all of that together, it's still debatable if that wasn't a waste of a good product. Your, Sir, are a heathen thyself! (But the shown stuff was my gat...

Re: 176: Low Tide!
Have we already discussed what Loroi may think about humans and their attachment to their children, specially on the female case?

Re: 176: Low Tide!
You can grow grass on a steep hillside and send those lambs up to eat it. Good luck getting a complicated crop harvester machine up and down that hill without tipping over. Yes, it is totally impossible to grow crops on steep slopes, and my ancestors certainly haven't been doing it for a few thousa...

Not that much if you consider they were engineered by another superadvanced alien race, so they skipped a lot of steps on the development tree.orion1836 wrote:Can we just agree that the Loroi tech tree is weird and call it a day?

Which one you want to have dinner date with? I myself really cant decide. Tempo is the only one I'd trust to behave correctly in a fancy restaurant. The pilots would be childish and pretend to be grossed out by everything, Beryl would sneak out into the kitchen to find out how human cuisine is prep...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
If you've never seen or read Guns Germs & Steel, it's worth watching this first episode of the series. It seeks to answer the question: "Why did some human cultures develop technology and build great works, when other cultures (that had individuals who are just as smart) remain stone-age hunter-gat...

Re: 174-175: Got milk?
Back to topic, I find hard to belief none of the races allied or known to the Loroi developed animal husbandry for the same reason as us. Maybe they don´t get milk but there are other secretions available (like the equivalent of jelly). https://media1.tenor.com/images/0cd4ac84fbc942d89f343e49022e25b...

Re: 174-175: Got milk?
Oof, you guys were productive overnight. From what I've learned, he major reason why mammals outraced the surviving dinosaurs (who were small due to food shortages), was that mammals could steal the eggs and use those as food, while their own breed was "protected" by carrying it around. It's funny ...

Wonder if the implants have an effect on the normal Loroi aversion to touching casually - could they possibly make accidental skin contact very uncomfortable to nigh painful for her?

Re: 172: See something you like?
The why I read it, Enzin was fixing his attention on either the implant or her very human expression. And Fireblade wasn't amused, probably because she hates showing weakness, specially to an outsider alien.
And I concur, Talon is best space elf.

Re: It's that time again: Rise of Skywalker
If you're expecting logic or internal consistency, this isn't the franchise you're looking for. I cringe every time I hear Clone Wars or Rebels held up as something notably good. It all has the same "this feels like it was written for little kids" feel. (Not in terms of subject matter, but in terms...

I wonder if in a few years after Disney drops the franchise, somebody will try to make a movie from Legends sources. Maybe one about Mara Jade.
Or maybe SW is beyond recovery at this point.

Re: How to Make Mecha Work in a realish setting
The only 'handwaved' plausible reason I have found for larger mecha is actually neural interface with most humans incapable of 'piloting' any vehicle through it, and almost all of the remaining are incapable of piloting anything except humanoid shapes. Now a neural interface could actually give a l...

I once asked an engineer if It would be possible to build something like AMEE from Red Planet.
He answered the main problem would be the battery. I'm confident however drone technology will eventually find a way around.

Wide tracked vehicle with low center of gravity would be better suited than two legged mech traveling on unstable rubble in city. The only reasons I see for using mech/humanoid type walkers are view from above which gives driver some advantage and MAINLY psychological effect on the battlefield espe...
