Re: Page 85
If we consider the Loroi universe and its races, its highly likely humans will have technogly that is in part superior to the Loroi and Umiak. Disputable. It´s simply the old "avoid traces"-thingy. The only things valuable for the loroi are our resources (metal rich planet) they do not know about y...

Trantor. Lurking around since #7 or so, couldn´t register on the old forum. Not a native engrish speaker, sorry for glitches, irritations and mistakes in advance. My name isn´t inspired by Asimov, Trantor is the retarded but utterly strong little brother of "Starkiller, scourge of the universe", a p...

Taben is a oceanic loroi world. See insider.ColdRain wrote:I think it works well as an image, but my first reaction on seeing it was to wonder how merloroi relate to the comic.

Re: Page 85
don't think so , I think the Loroi will be quite thorough in their distruction of the Bell even if they were in a hurry. But even this leaves evidence behind. I´m pretty sure the Umiak can analyze that there´s something strange going on. Mixing up the debris with Loroilitter would make a terran shi...

So that´ll be Hells Bells for the Bell.
Sadly there´s no time to tow Thunderbolt near to the wreckage and blow it up so that the remains would mix.
I wonder if the Umiak will return to explore Bell´s leftovers.

Alex is small for a human male.
He may be a tick taller than a male loroi, though.

Re: Page 84
The fact that the Umiak have their engines within the body of the ship suggests that a) the Umiak reactors are better shielded, which follows to a degree with ships that have heavier armor and more extensive compartmentalization, and/or b) the Umiak just don't care as much about long-term health ef...

As i understood it, Bell had "only" chemical propulsion. 5000 Tons is IMHO a bit much antimatter/nuclear fuel for a small scout vessel.Voitan wrote:A lot of things are unlikely, but within the realm of possibility, as was Jardin's survival.

Heh. I remember the old thread on this years ago. I also looked up my name back then, and it means "strong shield of the mountain(s)".
Cool, eh?

And, of course, the Outsider tie-in here is that Germany accomplished this by attacking and occupying "neutral" nations: first Norway and Denmark, then Belgium and Holland. The Third Reich had no compunction about overrunning unsuspecting and ill-prepared countries to attain a strategic and/or tact...

As the insider article about the war states, the war has been going badly for the loroi with no end in sight. the only clear advantage is fighting near home systems and their far-seeing ability ( which has not worked now , IE the other lost fleets, and is a game changer). Farseeing didn´t work only...

Re: page 83
That's not strictly true. During the first stages of the war (~1914) it was very much a fluid conflict of maneuver. Only when the German advance became stalled did the massive trench warfare begin. Yes, and that´s what they concluded from Verdun - Fortification. Big mistake. Yes, and in Belgium the...

but it wasn't even that, if they just covered say 30% of their full border (like all of their border with Germany, and Belgium plus some). They would have forced the germans to move through a lot mountains. Which mountains? Svitzerland? Well, they "covered" all the border. It still didn´t make any ...

Re: page 83
I could make the counterpoint. How STUPID do you have to be as a commander to see an enemy entrenching only 75% of their border with you with huge guns and emplacements to prevent your assault and then assault there when all you need to do to avoid it is roll through Belgium. They considered it a g...
