Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Hmm... are there pygmy loroi, then? Pygmy and dwarf Loroi would be different how? 🤗 Hah! It's a small but important difference. To add onto what Keklas said, "Pygmy" is more of an ethnic category than a genetic mutation. And, it's an ethnic category that spans continents as basically any people tha...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

So basically the Loroi could in theory go 'Brave New World' or 'Gattaca' if they wanted to. Even today's medicine can detect most forms of human dwarfism in utero with genetic tests. But, I mean... the Loroi ancestors essentially were 'Brave New World.' Another reason that those kinds of mutations ...

Re: AI art.

I for one welcome a program that puts the art in artificial intelligence. That these AIs brute force creativity doesn't bother me either. In a way, human brains do the same. If you draw a space elf OC you are not plagiarizing a specific image. Sure. But we still have a framework of what a 'space un...

Re: AI art.

Again, it's outputs to every random idea has convinced me that it's capable of stringing enough unique ideas, to make something original enough not to get sued, and that it's definitely "painting" things from scratch rather than modifying existing images I'll grant of course that this is mainly a hu...

Re: AI art.

I very much doubt that they're doing image searches in real time; the site mentions that there are "automatic and manual" controls in place to try to prevent pornographic or graphically violent images from being used as source, so it's more likely that they are collected in batches and preprocessed...

Re: AI art.

I have a feeling we actually agree on the capabilities of the AI, but perhaps have assigned different words to the same thing. For instance, it is true that Dall-e is trained on a variety of source images. However, I don't think it searches for those images when you use it. Theoretically, you could ...

Re: AI art.

I've seen a few of these kind of posts around recently, and I don't know what specific tools are used to create them (or exactly how they work), but based on what I know from my own software experience as well as using recent "AI" graphics routines in Photoshop, Vizcom, etc., I have the feeling tha...

Re: AI art.

Wow... this is nearly what Loroi would look like in real life. All you need for the finishing touch is to slant their eyes down at a slight angle toward the nose and you would have totally realistic looking Loroi! Good job! Well done! Y Eh, the AI did most of the work, haha. And, you're probably go...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Looking into the matter a little thoroughly, I've noticed that there seems to be a general trend among Loroi society to be largely a-religious regarding beliefs in deity's or spirits and the like, at least on any widespread scale across their society. I think I remember that the closest thing they m...

Re: AI art.

What was your request strings? And what AI generator did you use? The strings were different, but generally followed the format: "Close up of an anime blue-skinned elf girl. Her skin is blue in color. She has dark-blue skin and a short bob of white hair. She stands on the surface of a barren alien ...

AI art.

Decent AI art is a thing now, in many people's opinions, anyway. And, though not directly to outsider, I thought that - this being a forum with a major emphasis on art and technology, this might engender some useful discussion. Mainly, I wanted to listen to your opinions on how this might affect thi...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

I was wondering, actually. Do Loroi have a concept of imaginary freinds? Not to get too psycological, but I wonder about the level of genuine belief most kids can muster towards such a subject, and needing to mentally justify every aspect of such things in communication seems like it might stunt su...

I came across this video, It's a very insightful show of different welding techniques, as well as of some technologies, like electron beam welding, which seem set to driving an industrial golden age in orbit. eVzUmQ6Oi5c I also wanted to show you guys this channel, which has a lot of good videos abo...

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.

Like I said, this isn't meant to force the Umaik to go to Fiji, or earth. It's meant to keep them away from earth. Sure, but you generally want to put weapon systems where they will be put to good use, Earth in this setting is about as remote as can be, thus the comparison to Fiji. Earth would be a...

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.

For starters, humanity doesn't have any pulse cannons. Humanity doesn't currently have an alliance with the Loroi, but even if they did, the Loroi don't have tens of thousands of pulse cannons lying around. Weapons are among the most expensive parts of a warship, and the Loroi are building warships...

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.

I imagine it'd be the equivalent to installing battleship guns on an island in Fiji. Daunting I'm sure, but you can't really force a fleet to go to Fiji. Like I said, this isn't meant to force the Umaik to go to Fiji, or earth. It's meant to keep them away from earth.[ quote=Mk_C post_id=38319 time...

Hhhmmmmmmmm~ I try to maintain a policy of "assume goodwill." I assume that your statement was joking, therefore I'd like to suppose that his response was joking as well. ;) On the chance that you weren't joking, White, that's not an acceptable way to conduct discussions on this board. Haha, I was ...
