Re: Page 189: GO AWAY!
Unless this whole 'experience' was orchestrated by Tempo Now this would be a bamboozle to rule them all. A neato twist, but I fail to see how it would develop further ahead. If she wanted, Tempo probably could've conducted this sort of an experiment back when Alex was in isolation (no matter their ...

Re: Page 189: GO AWAY!
It's interesting that in his dream his suit is dimming from the more pure white it was in the prologue, as if it's being drenched in blood slowly, or as if he's existing under a sort of red glare, while his surroundings are existing under a blue glare of light.

Re: Page 189: GO AWAY!
I'm just wondering how much control Jardin has in this not-dream - yelling out after hearing a warning in a very bad environment isn't the best. If he's in full control and that's his personality, "Never share a foxhole with anyone braver than yourself" is the nicest way I can describe his behavior...

I like the artstyle. Q: the mom and child don't have hair. I find it interesting that they have access to scalp shaving, while trying to survive and stay together. I'd expect priorities to shift in such cases, and hair to grow abundantly. More likely, their heads were shaved in order to more easily...

It sort of looks like he's in some kind of wasteland. Maybe they're escapees from a medical laboratory.

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Accidental civilian deaths as the result of attacking a strategic or military target are termed "collateral damage" to distinguish them from cases in which the civilians were specifically targeted, such as in the firebombings of London, Dresden and Tokyo. If the term offends you, substitute any ter...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Postmodern moral relativism troubles me a bit. It's technically true that dead is dead, and "when the bullet hits your skull, what will it matter why?" However, in that sense there's no difference between killing a baby for sport and killing someone who was trying to kill you and your family. Conte...

Dear Gods! Just saw today's spoiler in WIP by Arioch! Not quite Dachau... but Not far away from it either. Yeah, I'm not sympathizing with Umiak, they need to be STOPPED! If they will do that to Loroi.. they'll do it to anyone! If they won't see reason... then burning them until they can no longer ...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
I don't know, going by most human literature we seem to blame ourselves for pretty much everything, including stuff that we're not to blame for. This "humans are always trying to shift the blame to monsters or outsiders" is itself a sort of "we humans are the problem" type of complaint.

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.
@boldilocks You are very optimistic about the integrity of nations. The Loroi seem quite rational and fact oriented, which I assume translates into their powergames being the same. Humanity betraying the Umiak shouldn't worsen our position with the Loroi in any way. That we were willing to take suc...

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.
But once survival is achieved, the ethics come back into play, and that is when noble warrior cultures look at slimy backstabbing culture and start wondering if this is not a civilization that is better off stifled, if not nipped in the bud. Especially in victory, how could the loroi trust a species...

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.
Which means it is not in humanity's interest to engage in such behavior, because it is detrimental to their future development. Either it will stifle their future diplomatically (and possibly existentially) or it will stifle their capability to militarily assert themselves within their natural area ...

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.
I suspect the Loroi would want the state of affairs to eventually return to pre-war status, which means they're now dealing with a species willing to forego the laws of war in order to inundate themselves with another species through subterfuge and war-crimes. Not a great basis to begin serious dipl...
