Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
If two groups of Loroi are fighting, are they able to isolate their own telepathy from the enemy? Can one group listen in on the other?

Re: Page 124 and 125, interesting times afoot.
A mind which has been cryo-frozen is not conscious. It's been suspended; there's no consciousness to detect, because there's no activity going on in the mind. Total suspension of the processes that make up the mind would require a level of cryo-freezing that would surely cause irreparable damage.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
If sansai makes secrets and lying next to impossible, why did Beryl ask Alex not to repeat anything about a breakthrough on page 103? Or is it possible to keep secrets and therefore necessary to keep that piece of information to spread beyond the immediate crew?

Re: Page 124 and 125, interesting times afoot.
Farseers don't detect thought, they detect the presence of the mind. It would be better to argue that they can do some kind of "astral perception". In moo2 the Elerians could see the whole galaxy, even uninhabitated planets. If you freeze down a brain, there won't be any electrical current & theref...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
There are both types. Fireblade's amplifier can be removed at will, but it attaches to plugs that are surgically implanted. Is the surgical implantation there to make the connection/amplification stronger? That is, do the loroi actually have that much knowledge of telepathy that they can enhance it...

Damn, can't un-see massive cock-eyes on Beryl. Didn't notice them on the earlier unshaded page, but now I'm seeing it in both places. Am I crazy? It's like they're put in perfectly horizontally on a tilted face or something?
Dammit, this is gonna drive me nuts.

Their election rules do not fit our definition of "democracy". But then, neither did the Greek city-states "democracies" in ancient times.... Yeah, because westerners idea of democracy brings in a lot of ancillary principles that are unrelated to both democracy and republicanism, like property righ...

I don't mean to blow everyone's collective minds but that's not actually an incorrect descriptor. North Korean dictators are democratically elected, which makes North Korea both democratic and a republic.raistlin34 wrote:Yeah, and North Korea regime is called "Democratic People's Republic of Korea".

we don't really know that much about the umiak to say they "accept their fate without resistance". Based on the umiak page on this website, they refrain from extending their own life through biological enhancement, even though its quite possible. i don't know who told you that Dragoonfa but they we...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I think you very much misunderstand how dictatorships with thought police act and the assumptions they make about the general populace. The process of thought policing and brainwashing isn't to root out a few active rebels and someone with an actual plan as they try to enact it, it's to make sure t...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Yes, but you must see how this is disingenuous sounding. You're essentially claiming that you're born and die on an assignment handed out by a military dictatorship When it comes to civilian 'assignments' my understanding is that the military doesn't concern itself overly much. (Probably will invol...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Technically, males are wards of the state. A prominent family would have some influence over what happened to a son, but someone like Beryl would probably not. Loroi MGTOW movement when? Men of Loroi, rise up! You have nothing to lose but your comfy state-appointed position and all the %#$!£ that s...

Re: Page 123: not much to see
Beryl is obviously genuinely surprised that an alien male who handles such a console for the first time right after being taught the Loroi Trade script, her behavior becoming Patronizing as a result of this and cultural upbringing is something to be expected. But are loroi really that culturally sh...

Is it just me or did that "Oh, captain my captain, you learn sooooo fast" from Beryl seems almost TOO xenophilic? Unless she's actually being sarcastic. Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
What would happen if, for example, Beryl got pregnant and had a son? Does she belong to some kind of family that would then have the male as their charge, or would she have charge of him? (Ie, have to set up mating calls and whatnot)
