Re: Forum Issues
I have a weird thing--when I submit a new post, I get sent to a blank page, with no way of getting back to the thread. I have to manually type in the main forum page, or else Google and look for it that way. Except it's not consistent--for example that didn't happen just now. That just happened to ...

Re: Off Topic: Lets Make a Scifi/Fantasy Race, Reptilian
Maybe you didn't mean it this way, but I just wanted to clarify that organisms cannot evolve features so they can then use them for some function they can't attempt until after they evolve the feature. To take one example, neither humans nor reptilians could have evolved an upright posture so that ...

Re: Forum Issues
I get logged off after somewhere between 0.5 and 3 hours of inactivity. I've been assuming that was some account or browser setting I forgot about (it seems like something I'd choose). I haven't noticed the 500 error, yet.
Edit: didn't see one then.
Edit 2: Or then.

Re: Off Topic: Lets Make a Scifi/Fantasy Race, Reptilian
The closest relatives to humans are chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans, roughly in that order. Why did humans develop bipedalism and an upright posture? Is there some connection to our greater intelligence, or is it random chance? If we can figure that out, then we might be able to deter...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I seem to remember Arioch stating that humans and Loroi are not genetically related. That we were used as a physical template for visible characteristics, but the Loroi genetic code isn't derived from ours. I don't recall the specifics, but the model I've been using is decompiling a binary computer...

Maybe Tempo's got the comm officer mind-slaved?
Also: this doesn't look good for Reed.

Maybe this was asked already, whats with the different colors of glowing armor? Is that a rank thing? e: does anecdotally seem like its a comissioned officer thing from the bridge pictures such as page 91 I think this page might have what you're looking for? https://well-of-souls.com/outsider/loroi...

Re: Fan Theories on How the Umiak can hide from the farseers
That would be another very good explanation. Proxy wars are not unheard of... Yeah, when stepping back and looking at the big picture, I find it kinda suspicious how the Historians gave the Loroi just enough technological help to achieve a stalemate. For a while, anyway. Of course, if they'd given ...

Kikitik-27 and the Superheavies (which would make a great band name): IsGho4eM3Q4 (The Wolf, Andante Molto No. 19 (french horns), Peter and the Wolf, Sergei Prokofiev) I think it's got the ominous mood of the massive fleet slowly emerging, and the gradual zoom in on the superheavies, then a cut to T...

My own headcanon for Arioch's story contains a dormant telepath element. It doesn't make sense that Humans should be so abnormally telepathically inert in the absence of some form of long term, evolutionary selective pressure. I haven't really played with the idea too much though. Same here. My hea...

Re: Page 222: Take Care What You Choose For Cover
F-35 vs A-10 doesn't really apply here. The A-10 is super cool, but it's over 50 years old, designed to fight an opponent that doesn't exist in a battle space that will never happen all without the benefit of technological advances that it's designers could never have conceived of. Sure, if you wer...

There is no way to know for sure, but I think Beryl was simply jealous. I think of it as Captain Kirk rescuing an alien space babe, who says "Hi there, my name is Alexandra but you can call me Lexxy, rhymes with sexy", and then reaches out to grab Kirk's butt, claiming that it's a traditional greet...

Re: Sex Questions
As they age, after each pregnancy a female has a chance to transition to male (of the second type). Huh. There's no way back? Females are limited to the ones that become female after puberty, and there's a one-way transition to male-of-the-second-type after enough pregnancies? I guess that's no wor...

This almost makes me wonder whether Beryl is deliberately avoiding talking about Tempo's abilities, and whether she's a bit creeped out by them, too.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
The only use case that I currently have for this technology is the concept that Fireblade has a capsule that she sleeps in to mitigate the telepathic "noise" that she generates when unconscious... but I'm not 100.0% sure that's actually going to be in the comic. Heh. I'm enjoying imagining Alex's r...

I think that being able to capture an enemy vessel intact will always be a treasure trove of intelligence information. Logs, codes, maps, orders, information on weapons loadouts and configurations, records of crew behavior and morale, information about what's going on behind enemy lines, etc. *slap...

The Neridi are an example of a species that does have regular, prolific sex, and they do use it for social bonding. They're also hermaphroditic, but they transition between male and female functionality at different stages during their lives. They also have two different states of being males that ...
