Re: Adeptus Astartes Episode 2

We were having a discussion on Discord about it, opinions vary but my personal one is that the strongest possibilities lay with 1) The two orbs being fragments of the Deceiver; the C'tan are 'godlike' and the Deceiver is known to have infiltrated Imperial worlds before for his own goals (to create ...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Guess it could make sense... red dwarfs (dwarves?) are crazy flary during the first billions of years of existence but calm down in their mid and later years (so after about 10-12 billion years on average). A planet that has survived past the baby phase of the star (via a magnetic field), will find ...

Re: 177: What do you miss?

Grass...is tamed not domesticated. Unless one refers to wheat and cereals an perhaps bamboo. It doesn't differ from wild varieties, it's only trimmed and maintained in a certain way. Do you really think that distinction is important in the context of Alex's dialogue with aliens who know nothing abo...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Have the Loroi encountered worlds as bio-diverse as Earth? Yes and no. Each of the non-Soia-Liron races represents a separate, well-developed native planetary ecosystem (except for the Fenrias offshoots, who together represent a single native ecosystem). Except for a few cases, most of these planet...

Let's just say... east of Europe, west of China, north of Persia and south of penguins :) . I'll allow "south of penguins" if you can prove that you are from before the 19th century and therefore meant the birds that are called, nowadays, "auks". The animals called "penguins" remain in the southern...

Re: [Fanfiction] A Shout in the Dark

I have a system of bubbles drawn in paint (you are allowed to laugh :D ) that say what every party (even far off, non-essential ones) is thinking. I call it my "system of axis of intentions" :P . So I can shed some (non-spoilery) light on what we be reading. Not a response to a critique, but rather ...

Whelp, I'm back from my looooong interlude. Hopefully I haven't gotten too rusty or changed my style significantly since then :) . But since I have time to kill (guess why....), and a story in my head, it seems I can move on. The next part will be the last in this chapter (but not the story; I plan ...

Re: [Fanfiction] A Shout in the Dark

Part X The impacts were sending rolling shockwaves through the ship. Each hit to the armored plating was met by protests of metallic shrieking. Razorleaf was not liking her current outlook on the situation. To any outsiders, this must seem eerie. The thuds and bangs and occasional electronic pops w...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Can we just agree that the Loroi tech tree is weird and call it a day? I am at home, and fighting off boredom. So no. Have you heard of the Russian fox breeding program? And it's not a massive feat to tame a wild Zebra. People with knowledge of horses do it today. You can find videos of ordinary pe...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

To add my favorite type of input (the uninvited kind) I would like to point out that horses were not ridden at first. They were draught animals. In warfare they pulled chariots. Early horses were way too small to support a human on it's back. If we consider the Caspian breed as being the norm (and i...

Part IX Daniels snapped his neck in discomfort. Being this close to near annihilation was not something he was fond of. He remembered his days at the academy, cooped up in dark simulator rooms, fighting in make-believe battles exactly like this one. At some point it got compartmentalised, and one s...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Shouldn't the eco-systems of Deinar explode or have exploded in a massive speciesation event? With all those untapped opportunities around, I'd expect the Soia-Liron lifeforms to take advantage. Evolution can work lightning fast under the right circumstances. A comparison with earth is difficult, a...

Re: 174-175: Got milk?

Back to topic, I find hard to belief none of the races allied or known to the Loroi developed animal husbandry for the same reason as us. Maybe they don´t get milk but there are other secretions available (like the equivalent of jelly). Even if they did, how familiar would an average Loroi be with,...

Re: 174-175: Got milk?

@Werra Correct, but I just stress the fact that just because they SAID they did not consider poor whites as being non-human doesn't mean they didn't FEEL that way. I mean, people still do it all the time today with political opponents, kids, the opposite gender, members of different nations/religion...
