Re: Distraction thread
Thanks for the additional list of suggestions. Well, not all on the remarkable animes list up there are of the "sweet" type. :P Fortune would have it that every hour that passes from viewing that series, the craving for a substitute entertainment fix of similar nature diminishes. Yukikaze is a rathe...

Re: Distraction thread
Thanks for the suggestions so far, you're being very helpful! :D Ahh, and I think I forgot to mention that one of the things I liked most about C/BotS was that it was sweet. Entertaining the romantic in me is a big part of many of the anime I watch. For me it hardly ever ever ever is a side characte...

Re: Distraction thread
So here's a distraction for you all! Suggest a new* dramatic scifi, war or action anime series to watch! I recently watched through most of the Seikai no Monshou/Seki anime cluster (with the exception of Seikai no Danshou [Crest of the Stars: Birth] and the two [mostly-]recap movies summarizing two...

Re: Distraction thread
That's why physics is so weird. I personally consider the whole relativistic thing it seems to have going in it to be rather mind-twisting paradoxical.

Re: Distraction thread
Just a nitpick on something posted a while ago: ion engines are more of a pre-fusion era reality of regular space technology. Depending on the weapons an orbital combat vehicle would be threatened by I think whipple shields and ablative armor agianst projectiles and lasers are more likely than magne...

Re: Loroi abilities, and Loroi Judo
Lishranen ("grappling") is an unarmed combat technique similar in some ways to Judo in that it focuses on throws and locks and disarming techniques rather than kicks and strikes. Fireblade learned it as part of her standard training along with firearms and knife skills, but she doesn't use it much....

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
I don't think any sort of fantastical physics facilitate putting radiators practiclaly into a spacecraft's hyper energetic exhaust plume. From where I am looking it seems like the engines are the end of the whole body-wing-engine structural-aerodynamic functional unit. The closest real counterpart t...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Actually I think it's more like the pentagonal 5 landing gear layout that we have on big passenger airplanes. A rear pair under the fuselage + a slightly forward pair wider apart at the base of the wings + the forward gear.

In any case I was merely suggesting I view his skill in recalling (+composing) as many songs/tunes making him a bit of a statistical outlier.
And yes, do post more. Fanfic can be much more engaging to read than the average forum discussion!

Tsk-tsk; messing with a xenophobic temperamental telepathic warrior like that. Risky, quite unlike my own nature that move I'm guessing; altho I am known to myself to occasionally step off this norm due to either boredom, enthusiasm or impulse. ;) In any case, poking for a reaction and getting it mu...

*Statistically speaking
Nice to read some Outsider fanfiction.
Edit: the thread title could've been a bit more descriptive/informative however

I presume this is the Minimus that has been mentioned? I can't believe I'm saying this, but it looks complicated =P I find it unfortunate that the Tempest setting got outvoted, but fortunately the leading proposition is also on a starship. This time around I'm seriously contemplating participating. ...

Re: Planetary Invasion/Defense
If a bombarding fleet had to conserve fuel, there's no reason they couldn't spread out along their orbit (or different orbits) to have continuous coverage of a point on a planet without having to climb to synchronous orbit if such exists. That's one benefit having more than one bombard capable ship ...
