Consider also that in the here and now there is a similar device (the Samsung Galaxy S10) that can bum a charge off of another of itself. Would be surprised if that doesn't become commonplace in the next 140 years.

A group commander rates a command ship. But as command ships go, Tempest is fast but outdated, the last of her class, with substandard protection and a problematic primary armament. I doubt there were many who wanted her. She got it second hand? Yeah, she was not the ship's first commander. Who was?

It's a pretty big topic, as it's the history of not just one world, but three. I have a significant amount of notes on the details of Deinar history, and I can fashion an Insider entry out of them if there is interest, but it's a pretty big job, and a subject that's a bit of tangent from the story ...
