Re: Page 86
And that's what I mean by pacing. There's no natural buildup. Heck, you could have a Space Marine forced trough circumstances to work with a farseer, first developeing begruding respect and later, AFTER MUCH TIME even admiration, then love - even that would make more sense than this "instant-love-i...

Re: Cloning?
I can't quite comprehend why everyone assumes that all artificial test tube reproduction has to be cloning. It seems incredibly redundant, since there's very little utility in producing an entire population of individuals who are EXACTLY the same. A better model for that kind of assembly line people...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
The idea that the Umiak would charge directly into mass driver range is kind of like assuming an army of modern soldiers would fix bayonets and charge into a hoplite formation. It seems more likely the Umiak would just split their task force up and move to the sides and above and below so they coul...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
Umiak prefer to charge in and blast in from clsoe range? Hehe...ironicly, the that's exactly where the human weapons are the best. Design cheap ships with minal crews that are made to push asteroids in front of them as giant shields. Arm them with the best mass drivers you can. Charge at the Umiak ...

Re: Page 86
You had to do it, didn't you? Yes  http://imageshack.us/m/269/2517/lcbnerdrage.jpg Now, I'm not the one to diss the concept itself (love in WH40K...scandalous, I know!)...even the writing is passable... but the pacing of that thing was AWFULL. I'm confused. It's a 4-panel comic. I think it...

You know it Haven't gotten around to watching all of it, but been liking what I see. One of the better sci-fi anime out there. (plus random screen caps. Dear lord! This series looks so stupid from the random screen caps!) What like this? http://neoshinka.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/logh_die_manly_4...

Re: Page 86
I'm wondering if negotiations will break down, due to the Umiak habit of tagging/labeling so many different objects/topics in their conversation, causing confusion/information overload for the recipients of the communication. When the Umiak gets annoyed with stillstorm, is the translator going to st...

Re: Page 86
That would be one epic crossover. But rahter short, as teh SPESS MUHREENS would be all "Burn in the righteous flames of the Emperor, Eldar Witch!" Altough seeing Alexes and Loroi rection to the Astates would be priceless. Maybe not as short as you think, considering Arioch mentioned Loroi Tedai bei...

Re: Page 86
I was hinting at a wonderful human phrase that can get twisted in translation: There will be more of us. We'll keep coming, and coming... Until you're history . That's a promise from me to you. Pffft, well lets hope nobody is inclined to think humanity has pun making as a racial trait. That was fat...

Re: Armor values
Finally, evasive maneuvers need to be considered. How about Jumps? Facing a superior fleet at high speed, couldn´t jumping in right behind them be a useful tactic? There's an entire insider article about this. I recall that it was basically, you can only jump into a system at certain points, and it...

Re: Armor values
Rosen_Ritter_1 The damage Tables are based on ENERGY not damage to armored foes. No. It doesn't rate it in terms of energy. It rates it terms of points of damage. How those rates of damage relate to the new armor figures (or if they do at all, considering how old the weapons damage table is) is unk...

Re: The Greenshirt affect.
Heh. It's not an intentional trend, but I guess the analogy is a good one -- the green-clad Soroin are the rank-and-file folks who have an increased chance of stopping bullets. But Outsider (being a war story) has a pretty high body count, and not all of them are minor characters wearing green. As ...

Re: Armor values
The Loroi doctrine allows them to concentrate their defenses and weapons forward. If the Loroi are in range to fire at the Umiak, they do not want to show their vulnerable tails to the enemy; I can't stress this enough. The above posted weapons table is out of date, though I have nothing better to ...

Re: Page 86
The Loroi didn't lie, they assumed, they just assumed wrong. That is unless we later meet up with Greywind or something and she says that they've known about humans all along. Also, not just the Umiak, superior to everyone. I very much doubt that would be the case. Not unless it was some kind of ul...

Re: Physiological/psychological effects on Ship Design.
It's possible that shield screens take up space that you could otherwise use for weapons, but would be useless in a long term fight since you'd have to worry about getting one shotted like the Bell if the enemy managed to score a hit.

Re: two questions about the Loroi Military
I don't believe outsider verse has power armor. The closest you have is cyborg augmentation like with the Umiak.

The Greenshirt affect.
On Page 73, Stillstorm addresses four of her subordinates. By the end of the first Umiak wave, one of them has been killedto remind the audience how dangerious the situation is. Naturally, the one wearing green dies. I just thought I might mention this, and inquire whether this shall be a trend from...

Re: two questions about the Loroi Military
Secondary training for shipboard disciplines includes squad-level combat and the kind of formal training in small arms that you would expect for any unit capable of infantry combat. Though the Loroi have dedicated security units (Teidar and specialized Soroin), every member of the crew is expected ...
