Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
Drone patrols that are on orbital paths between planets could maintain patrols for a very long time slingshotting around planets and only using fuel to make minor course corrections. It would be far less resource intensive then manned ships or fighters. Drones dont have the problem of life support. ...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
Drones dont have the problem of life support. It takes the same amount of fuel to send a drone 1000km at 20km/s stop and return as it does to send it 1000000km at 20km/s stop and return. I understand lack of carriers but aren't station based fighters patrols will be much cheaper that corvette patrol...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Did/do the Loroi use animals with their power, controlling a bird and being able to see what it sees would make for a pretty effective hunter, using animals that are controlled could also be used to inspect parts of a ship for damage where its harder for people to get to(eg cat type animal) Much lik...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
It was for Terran ships to defeat long range sniping of Umiak plasma when using 8 heavy lasers in an array. IN my battle sims It lets a Terran Battle Cruiser take on and destroy a Type-K Heavy Cruiser if the heavier long range shots from the Umiak ship can be negated. The material used is not blocki...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I thank you for trying to point out what I was asking but I was obtuse for a reason. Since every time I bring things up 3 people go aggro make dumb ass comments, one constantly makes comments unrelated to the topic except to insult me and Arioch allows it I was trying to avoid actually going into de...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
So it dissipates rapidly after striking the first target like real world plasma/particle weapons.(lasers to if they are not pulsed) So if it hit a .1mm steel plate 100km behind the plate the beam would have dissipated due to charged particle interactions? This is a general weapons question for Plasm...

Do they lose cohesion after they strike solid matter like real plasma/particle beams due to charged particles causing dissonance?

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Maybe, but the Loroi know when they are sending normally and they apparently have no idea(FireBlade) is sharing personal crap she would not want to share with an alien. Unless its all a test... including the Historian App. Loroi can send to other races, albeit with less ease than to Loroi. Maybe the...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
By normal I mean in the context, EG replace Alex with a Barsam, they would have acted the same in the crisis? Arioch, is the Loroi familiarity normal, such as when they sleep together with alex for warmth and would they do the same with other races, or is the fact Humans look like them leading to mo...

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thread
I gave examples of problems in modern systems caused by humans failing to realize a problem even exists or a hardware conflict that was not an issue except under very specific situations not a 1:1 comparison. This is a problem that has increased as technology has increased in complexity and a single...

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thread
How do the Umiak deal with the problems that arise from non standard construction... Much of the design around modern warships and fighters is actually finding things that interfere with each other... Electronics with too long wiring being disrupted by its own radar due to induction, warship slantin...

Werra believes science advancement is a universal constant, when I believe its dependent on the view point of the culture that is advancing it. Its not that the laws of physics change, its the implementation and roads of investigation change based on the hardwiring of the brain and the culture doing...

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.
Likely my last post on this as its going in circles. Plausible reason why humans have laser arrays and others don't? For Humans it was a choice to develop working Laser arrays and other races couldn't at the same tech level... According to Historians which are the most advanced active race we know a...

Can't believe we are having a discussion about a toaster... If aliens were given a toaster and not told/shown what it was for or what race made it, they would not know its a complete self contained device and its not part of a larger machine or itself not broken in some way. Attempts to reverse engi...

You missed the point. Pyramids Examples of advanced science in engineering/mathematics. Purpose? non scientific ideology of the "next life" based on a unproven belief system. Are the Pyramids logical? NOPE, NOT EVEN CLOSE. Just because you wouldn't build a nuclear reactor to make toast doesn't mean ...

With the following advances Japanese ...
