Re: Evacuate Earth

Well, depending on the cause of the disaster, you could potentially use the disaster to your benefit. A nova could provide a lot of delta V if you had an appropriately shaped pusher plate. :) That is good lateral thinking. I approve. That said, such a pusher plate might be more expensive than launc...

...She's so pretty with her dark long hair and violent eyes! :) I think you mean violet eyes. I doubt her eyes can beat someone up. :D No, they give burns. Sultry burns! Honestly though, Arioch, you have done excellent work on Tempo. she talks more with her eyes than most people do with their mouth...

Re: Evacuate Earth

For the sake of argument, suppose the Neutron Star is set to collide with the Sun. Then we are screwed. There is no way we could get -any- ship far enough out of the solar system to survive the energetic event that will happen to the sun after a neutron star smacks into it. Not without a warp, hype...

Re: Evacuate Earth

Wouldn't a star, neutron star or a normal one, do one hell of a number on the planets and their orbits?

Lieutenant Allerberger: "Alright boys and girls, it's time to hunt some bugs!"

Marines: "BUG HUNT!! OORAH! Bug Hunt! Bug Hunt! Bug Hunt!"

Loroi: "Wtf are they doing?"

Re: Page 107 Discussion

Counting binary and trinary star-systems? I was under the(probably false) idea that the 400ish closest star systems to us were within a 150 LY radius. The RECONS 25 database of known stars within 25 parsecs (81.5 light years) lists 3,069 objects in 2,167 systems. The actual number is probably much ...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror

It just occurred to me that the device could very likely have affected the other races of the Loroi Union since they are able to be telepathically scanned. Humans, being immune to all telepathic contact, might be one of the few immune races to the effects of Screamer (as I dub it). Of course this do...

This is also not a decision that a commander of a raiding group can make. Hence Stillstorm's decision to send Alex (the annoying alien she still thinks might be a Shell trick), Parat Tempo (the very annoying diplomatic/political officer) and Beryl (young and perky!) off to the sector governor and fl...

Books I hope this books not by Norman Davis and others like him. Just go to any Russian forum and ask. Anyway you lose nothing. Cleaning The Soviet Union and the ethnic cleansing - is incompatible things. All Soviet ideology contrary to the division of people by race or ethnic. Social class cleanin...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror

Well, the Umiak's thinking makes sense. Given the similarities of humans to the Loroi, and given the Umiak have some sort of Farseeing protection device, it makes sense that they would think the humans are a Loroi trick. Much like some Loroi think humans are a Umiak/Shell trick, so too would be make...

Interesting. The device sounds very much like an organic device since its loyalty cannot be trusted and it can be subordinate. A computer would not be that. so it has to be organic. Very interesting indeed.

I can't see how she will help, especially if she believes the humans to still be a trick of the Shells. As it is, it looks like she is not thinking clearly and will be unduly hostile and antagonistic.

People, we are being trolled. Oh no, no no no no no. I am an accredited political scientist and I am telling all of you truthfully and honestly that what the Loroi have done so far amount to war crimes, and that we (the United States) have gone to war over far lesser offences. I can only imagine wh...

Wow, I'm still getting responses to this? Awesome, ok let's see what we've got here... The problem with that is with the American Revolutionary War and Vietnam, the Americans and NVA/Viet Cong both had ample outside support to fight the war. The Continental army would have had a much harder time fi...
