Re: Distraction thread
Imagine the starships of outsider in lego....
in fact, imagine people making SCALE MODEL REPLICAS fitted to lego spacemen!!!
That would be both awesome and slightly scary <_<
first we'd need to start small, like the new transport we are going to get a look at.
Anyone got enough green pieces of lego to have a go?

Re: Distraction thread
There are a few microscale Loroi ships made of Lego in the guest gallery.
I'm very fond of the Lego space stuff, which I played with a lot as a kid... but I don't think the minifigures do justice to female forms.

Re: Distraction thread
Legos are plain awesome as a general rule, but I always had the most fun building the space and robot stuff. As to the minifigs, when I was kid I just thought they were dudes wearing makeup and wigs. Probably because I watched a lot of Monty Python's Flying Circus...Arioch wrote:There are a few microscale Loroi ships made of Lego in the guest gallery.

I lost most of mine un a house cleaning prior to moving, and i regret it :S There a Game (like warhammer) that use lego to build Mechwarrior/Mecha.
BTW Arioch, thank for the drawing you did of Sakura. You made me discover quite a nice anime here!
Natsuki so cuuuuuute! (well like most kitten) From now on i will imagine beryl with the same attitude as Natsuki!
This should be fun

O_O
*drools*

Now i have something else to distract me, I'll have to resist the temptation to download that as long as possible if i am to post on this forum any time in the next 6 months, o_o
I know how bad I can be with my Lego, I have managed to use 90% of my peices to create massive weapons of war already, but lack sufficient pieces to have colour coded many of them, so they look like a bad mash up colour-wise for the most part.
I was GOING to post that I'd been thinking and was going to try out making a map on creative mode minecraft, and then offer the product to the community for each of us to design and make our own ship, so we could co-operatively built outsider ships, one guy doing the exterior for example, and others filling out the internals together.
I've discovered that multiplayer to internet seems to strongly dislike my internet connection so while I am tempted to try a server option, I wouldn't get to participate unless we did a map download option.
The question really is, would anyone help make paintings and sandstone skins to give us the technological look we will want?

I am now taking this thread completely off-topic with a note that the American gymnasts at the London Olympics did an incredibly awesome job. Insert nationalistic bragging and flamebaiting. Insert rational discussion of sporting events and the history of the Olympics.
That is all. Don't mind me.

I could hug you over the internet. Even if you're from across the pond.

Re: Distraction thread
I'm a bit surprised that nobody's got the reference before now, especially in the US where the book's title is in the last line of the quatrain. In the UK the book was published as "Tiger, Tiger", and it's still very readable, coming across with a cyberpunk flavour today.ed_montague wrote:Someone finally got the reference.Muttley wrote:Good Evening, Gully, glad you could make it. I'm still very fond of the first book of his that I read, "Extro" (aka "The Computer Connection") which I got hold of as a serial ("The Indian Giver", with a fine cover spot by Jack Gaughan http://www.collectorshowcase.fr/IMAGES2/analog_7411.jpg ) in a set of second-hand Analog's)
Bester is one of my favourite author's, when he's on form. The Demolished Man won the first ever Hugo novel award. The Green Lantern oath was originally penned by Bester, who worked in comics in the '40's. His short stories are almost always reliably readable, wheras his novels became less entertaining as he got older.
JMS used his name for the xenophobic head PsiCop in Babylon 5, giving him a backstory to explain it, and also evoking Bester-the-author's telepathy stories.

ALL OF MY WANT! ALL OF IT! DO YOU HEAR ME INTERNET GODS!? DO YOU?!
On a calmer note, the guys that are doing this are the same people who worked on Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander.
Wait, that wasn't a calmer note. I'm now even more excited. They even got the same VA that did the TA intro to do the PA intro.
I say this once more since the first time didn't cover it.
ALL OF MY WANT! ALL OF IT! FOR ALL TIME!

Re: Distraction thread
You should see some of the other Kickstarters. The Reaper mini Kickstarter just finished with 3.4 million (their initial goal was $30000). The highest funded project (The Ouya Android game console) got 8.6 million
EDIT: The other Kickstarter I'm backing right now is an artbook from Brom http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/596 ... rt-of-brom (slightly NSFW)

Re: Distraction thread
I saw one like that for a comic called "Two Kinds", goal was only a few thousand, ended up with 10s of thousands in a few weeks, it was meant to last 2 months or something and had to be extended, its still going I think
