The Umiak pulled it off to hide the exact composition and numbers of their fleet in Naam's proplyd material.
Although SG 51 seemed to know the general direction of the Umiak fleet, since their vanguard scouts were positioned towards them.
Sure, a ship can hide in Naam. But it has to get there, one jump from the Loroi borders, without being noticed, too. That sounds like a gamble, unless that ship can farsense which system is empty.

Bellarmine did EXACTLY that. The proplyd hid their visual presence and the crews lotai hid them from the farseers. This is why Alex is so important, study him and figure out how to bring down the lotai and the farsense blocking may be possible to deal with IF their blocking methods are similar enough.
My simplest theory for the unknown ship (by simplest I mean using only known entities).
It's historian ship.
Either a separatist fraction of historians or double game of their government. Anyway they decided to help Umiak and provide them AI crew. AI is known to be invisible for Loroi. The Umiak ships was partially crewed, so their mind signatures serve as bait for Loroi. The ship itself was Historian military advisor providing technical support, who of course wasn't interested in witnesses.
Alex's expression kind of reads as, "Well excuse me, princess." But I'm sure he's saying something a little bit more tactful than that.
Although, tact isn't something the Loroi are terribly familiar with in general, so he might be better off saying things that are at least a little bit tactless.
Bery seems to be running, while having fun. (at least I think there's a smile around her eyes)
Are they playing catch?
(might also just be some exercises in grav-free, to get Alex used to maneuvering in zero-g.
The Ur-Quan Masters finally gets a continuation of the story! Late backing possible, click link.

I think that’s just regular movement in zero g. I doubt someone who’s part of deep space exploration (ie bellarmine crew) would need additional training in that.
Is that Beryl in the passenger cabin?
If so, Alex perhaps convinced the Loroi there's something usable in the cargo hold (Bellarmine's salvaged stuff)?
To me, it reads like she is pushing off of a surface to move elsewhere, but someone behind her says something and she turns to look at the speaker in mid motion.
