Master Of Orion 2. Widely considered to be the best 4X (Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate) game ever despite being released in 1996.

Which probably contributes to how often Outsider gets referred to as a M.O.O. 2 fancomic
Re: What would YOU pick
well, by the definition that it is a comic made by a moo2 fan, seems pretty accurate.
Re: What would YOU pick
That and some loroi look close to some of the Moo2 Elerian
Tempo= elerian spy
Fireblade= Elerian warrior
Beryl= younger version of Elerian Scientist
In my search for the Elerian image i found that
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBqAmL00v04
Look at who the empire... was it originally in the game or a modification from a fan?

Followed afterwards by MoO3, comonly considered the best spreadsheet simulation game ever (glorious sortable columns!).fredgiblet wrote:Master Of Orion 2. Widely considered to be the best 4X (Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate) game ever despite being released in 1996.
Disclaimer: I've never actually been in the same room as a running instance of MoO3 (and intend to keep it that way).
Re: What would YOU pick
I did purchase MOO3, and messed around with it for about 20 minutes. Then never played it again.
A real spreadsheet is much more fun.

MoO3... I erased this game from my memories. But I still have a copy lying around here somewhere. Lurking in the darkness...
I should finally get rid of that thing.

Even peeling away your own skin with a grater should be more fun than this "game".A real spreadsheet is much more fun.

sadly that why i turn toward alternative to try the game before i buys it.
Re: What would YOU pick
I played MOO3 with a friend for a while. It was entertaining when the social side was added but still didn't hold a candle to MOO2. After a couple of games we didn't touch it again.

Eve felt like a job :S but "pew pew lazor!"
Re: What would YOU pick
The playing environment in eve is very aggressive and its not a forgiving game to new players. Things have gotten little better with the passage of time, but its still harder to settle into than many other MMO's. Knowing someone who actively plays and is willing to help you goes a long way to making it enjoyable.
But yes, when you start getting into the gritty part of alliances and organised pvp certain expectations and demands are generally laid at your feet. While the put up or shut up attitude does work, its not forgiving to the casual players and so keeps many people from actually sticking to the game passed the first couple of months.
Dust 514 might bring in a few new players but if CCP truely wanted to increase member base they'll have to radically alter the game format or finally introduce the walking in stations aspect of the game and aim it at social gamers.
As it stands and as mentioned, eve becomes a job if you let it

Project Eternity made it's 1.1mil goal in 27 hours. They made goal so quickly that Obsidian had to hold an emergency meeting to get their stretch goals defined on a Saturday

That's what I'm at, I'm hoping they'll write the book in the style of the manual from Arcanum
