Let me tell you, the text doesn't help with the context. Just you wait.entity2636 wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if Arioch is either trolling us, or her expression is taken far out of context and in reality means something completely different than we (the audience) want to see/believe.
Still, yeah, those lovely lovely eyes....

Exactly. Just having a "defense" against the Loroi wouldn't really help in the war. So I suspect there is something more.Sweforce wrote:Alex was hardly "in the mood" to give up information to Fireblade and her aides. Maybe there is a way to bring down the human lotai.
Oh, come on, I'm sure the Loroi can keep their hands off each other. After all, they have to manage with males/females broadcasting their affection. It's like someone telling you straight to your face that they like you. You don't have to go with it, you can also say "let's keep it as friends".Sweforce wrote:If that way is well, I doubt that, since that would rapidly make tto comic NSFW...
Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
While it is nice to entertain these thoughts (hey, this is the internet after all), I homestly think that she's just in a thinking posture, like talking through the options they have. Kind of "thinking out loud"...
Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Oh, I didn't neccessarily mean that in connection to the next comic. On the other side, I'm not sure Arioch makes Beryl sitting on Alex' lap for pure fanservice. But yes, maybe she is simply saying something like "Hush, little male, we will protect you!"Krulle wrote:While it is nice to entertain these thoughts (hey, this is the internet after all), I homestly think that she's just in a thinking posture, like talking through the options they have. Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
I don't see how one could expect Beryl to be meaning and speaking in a way to imply what some of you are thinking. Loroi society and gender relations are very different than humans'. I think she's being 100% factual. Now it might be funny if Alex assumes what some of you are assuming and Beryl is either/both clueless and then angry over it or something.
But also:
After all this talk about professionalism and Alex having this serious responsibility to humanity, he actually said in effect, "Things could be worse, I have a blue-elf on my lap. Hey-hey [wink!]"?? I'm sure that remark should have given Beryl (and Tempo, who HAS to be listening) pause...

To be fair, Alex has a history of wisecracking.

And the story of Outsider we are currently reading is merely the product of an oxygen starved, dying brain's fantasy...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
While the bias in numbers and the sexual dimorphism make for a different society, I still think gender relations are a bit more than "You've been assigned to male #162363-A, you have one hour, and do try to make the most out of it". As in, both male and female still might have the rights to pick and choose, to an extent. And if that is true, Loroi might have some idea about flirtatious behavior, as in, presenting themselves in a good light. As stunted as that might be.cacambo43 wrote:I don't see how one could expect Beryl to be meaning and speaking in a way to imply what some of you are thinking. (Side note: As hinted to in the pg. 132 discussion thread, this could also be true for Talon as well, even if it was never intended)
It doesn't even need to mean that Beryl consciously tries to make a pass on him. It isn't the first time her body language does say something like "I wouldn't exactly be adverse to".

And, sorry, I meant you're telling the tale as Alex's dying brain is trying to interpret the weird signals,it has into something, before he dies due to oxygen depleteion...
Forgot it could be interpreted as the comic creator being meant....
Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Random Question, why is the thread called "WIP Discussion (Part 1!)"?
Was there supposed to be a part two around somewhere?

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Optimism from the one who made the thread that eventually the thread would reach such a humongous size that it would have to be locked for forum stability reasons. It may come to pass now that Arioch regularly posts WIP teasers.

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
I don't want to spoil the patreon page, but a throwaway comment by Beryl makes me wonder,
was the decision to move alex away from the front in this manner actually taken by Beryl rather than the military high command (stillstorm etc)?
I think arioch knows what comment I'm referring to

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
I highly doubt Stillstorm would waste any of her actual warships to ferry an ambassador (whose genuine identity and value she doubts at best) to the rear, weakening her forces on the frontline. So they planned to ferry him onto another ship already bound to the rear in a supposed to be safe system.boldilocks wrote:I don't want to spoil the patreon page, but a throwaway comment by Beryl makes me wonder,

Of course, plans don't survive contact with the enemy ...
Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
just got a nasty feeling that it might not be a very good idea for Loroi to visit earth.... if humans have a telepathic basic ability(as the template for Loroi it seems likely) why have such strong telepathic shielding on a automatic or even instinctual level? the only reason i can think of is that some creature on earth are telepathic and predatory(cats seem probable) and VERY telepathically aggressive.....dolphins would be another strong candidate.... or maybe just VERY loud.

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
Isn't it obvious? We evolved psychic shielding to resist enslavement by the first psyonic Felis Catus, after they rose up in ancient Egypt.discord wrote:just got a nasty feeling that it might not be a very good idea for Loroi to visit earth.... if humans have a telepathic basic ability(as the template for Loroi it seems likely) why have such strong telepathic shielding on a automatic or even instinctual level? the only reason i can think of is that some creature on earth are telepathic and predatory(cats seem probable) and VERY telepathically aggressive.....dolphins would be another strong candidate.... or maybe just VERY loud.
Their mind control capabilities are so strong, in fact, that even today, when we are completely blank to the Loroi, the Felis Catus can still exert dominance over us through their mere image in internet videos.
Evidently, for sure.
Tauntingly: "Enzin tii Eilis mé sibreg ranii tó lanzedad..."
Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
While Felis Catus is, in my humble opinion, the most dangerous predator nowadays for us Humans, I think Felix Catus hsa been preceded by more dangerous beings, whom we really have to thank our telepathic resistance to.
or the famous
All hail the Hypnotoad!
Felix Catus is simply the only one able to lower our telepathic defenses so that it can work its magic on our minds.
That is its greates evolutionary achievement.

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
I was unsure where to put this question, but do any of y’all listen to anything specific in setting the tone or scene of the story? Arioch, is there anything, be it a specific artist, composer, or even a broad genre that you use to help get in the creative mode needed when creating pages?
I find myself wavering between synthetic fusion and soft electronic music for the calmer scenes, and Celldweller or FreqGen for “battle music.” How about everyone else?
